Hi everyone,

I'm planning on buying a .22 air rifle.

I prefer compact models and came across the RTI Prophet series.

Now I have the option of purchasing either the Prophet1 Compact Performance or the newer P3 Compact.

Which do you think would be the better choice?

Also, does anyone know if you can mount a larger bottle (for example a Leishy 350cc) on the Prophet Compact models?

Best regards,

Max

Mm89, Some countries have power limits. RTI knows this and they service a world market. Both P1 and P3 can be tuned from 12lbs to 50lbs tunes. Now the P3 will tune up to 100lbs. The compact is going to limit your power availability, hence why the longer barrel is available.
I say buy with in your budget, the P1 is an older model with older technology, that’s going to save you some money. The P3 has more than proven to be a great model. I personally own a P3 with 10000 pellets through it. It still has the same valve it came with.
One thing that you need to understand. This is a hobby, not a home defense weapon or anything that going to sit in a safe waiting to be shot once a year reliable. Airguns like to be shot regularly. They don’t like dirt or water. Especially in the air source. 90% of the problems I see is from dirty wet air sources.
So I’m saying, if you look long enough you can find something wrong with anything.
So after you decide on you new gun. worry more about keeping the air dry and clean.
Simple solutions:
Know your air source,
Wipe the male foster off,
Keep the female foster out of the dirt,

Cheers Mont,

Maybe I need to reconsider my choice of weapon.
The Prophet seems to be designed more for high energy levels with heavy pellets/slugs.
As mentioned, my main area of use will be at low power levels. Probably between 15 and 20 fpe.
However, I would also like to have the option of firing the weapon at higher power levels if necessary.
Do you think that a .177 might be better in this case (straighter trajectory at low power settings and the ability to use heavy pellets/slugs at high power levels)?
It's really how you set up the P1..or P3. P1 is more flexible for low power settings but can just as easily go high power if you want.

The .177 in the Compact will need the 500mm (20") LW barrel. It will still have the Compact form/size. In post #10, the Compact in the top picture has a 500mm LW .177 barrel. The reg is set to 125bar and 10gr JSB KO slugs exit the muzzle at 1025FPS. You could easily tune down to like 110 or 115 bar or ?..to get the ~20FPE that you're looking for.

I currently have a P3 and every barrel and pellet pusher to change out. I had a P2 and it was great and the barrel’s moved over to the P3. The .177 20 inch barrel can do 12fpe upwards of 30fpe. Shot count has been excellent on all calibers, but very high on the 177.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the models you are looking at.
