I would like to know about
Prophet I Compacts in
.30 cal.

(1) How long are the compact barrels?
(2) How long is the compact .30cal gun OAL?


(3) How much power is typical for a .30cal Compact?
(If you can indicate if you have the Performance or Regular model, and what regulator setting, that would be helpful.)



For the record:
My Prophet I Compact Performance .22 purchased in 2022 has a CZ 400mm barrel.

Pretty sure the standard length for all calibers in the Compact are 400mm. That said, there is 4+ inches of dead space between the end of the 400mm barrel and the Compact shroud..which I’m pretty sure is 510mm. So in theory a 20”/500mm barrel should fit in the Compact form factor.

Yeah, thanks, I think you're right — it seems to match up with what I stumbled upon today on an RTI webpage describing the shrouds they sell.



I guess I'm circling a dangerous rabbit hole.... — which upon careful examination reveals its identity as being a "cheap" used Prophet 1 Compact Performance .30cal.....

So, I'm wondering what the power is going to be like.

And the loudness with and without a silencer, say a DFL Sumo or Shogun.


I'm also wondering what the effect of an additional plenum is for a COMPACT gun.... Of .22cal and of .30cal....

Got my 20" CZ .22 barrel today and the 24" shroud. The shroud had screw marks like it was used but no big deal. I compared my 16" CZ barrel to the 20" and the 16" seemed nicer. The transfer port was more oval and opened up, it had laser engraved CZ .22 5.5mm. The new one was just stamped 5.5 and the transfer port was only drilled. Will open it up before installation. The 16" is a prophet compact version from a couple years ago.

Matt, I’ve had 2 CZ 20” barrels with my Priest 2. The .25 barrel had zero chamfer at the breech end, and would not feed pellets unless single loaded. That was an easy fix, and works great now. The .22 barrel had some pretty major marks at the muzzle end from the crown tool pilot, last 1/4” had a semi-circle line perpendicular to the rifling. They both have been polished, and perform well enough, just something to look out for.

I threw it in stock to see how it did. Have a clipping issues with my added Huma 3 section .25 moderator, but I had that issue before. The orings they use on the barrel bushing are a little loose and allow the muzzle to misalign. Will get some comparisons photos of the 16" to the 20" as the 16" looks a little more polished up than the 20". Easy fixes.

New 20" on the left, old 16" on the right. The barrel port on the 20" is a little over 11/64" or .171". The transfer port in the receiver is 15/64" or .234".

I opened it up like the 16" by elongating the hole front to back and giving a funnel affect to keep the inside diameter smaller so not to mess up feeding.

Dremel tool with these cheap little china grinding bits did the trick. Got to keep the speed down a little of they get to hot and the glue holding the bit on will let go,

Muzzle looked good so didn't mess with it. They did make the holes in the barrel bushing larger so that may help with shroud suppression.

Slugged a pellet through and it didn't seem as tight of a choke as my 16" barrel. Ran some test round through. Goal for this 20" barrel is to be a 18 gr slug and 21 gr pellet and up shooter. 5 shot groups with avg speed, extreme spread, and standard deviation. This is just my 11 yard basement testing range so it will be a minute before I can get out and test for distance. Looking like temps are falling through the bottom over the next week. Too windy this weekend. Bit of a gas hog as 20 shots ate up 50 bar. Green dots are from a bingo dobber.

Pretty good with that Dremel tool, There was some one on here making new barrel bushings for the RTI guns I lost the post when my computer crashed , I am guessing both 16 and 20 inch barrels are CZ barrels, Same Reg same hammer what's the FPS difference between your 16" and 20" barrels?

It wasn't much at first since the transfer ports in the barrels were so different. The new barrel was pretty choked down. Once it was opened, I was able to back the reg down a little and still have good speed.

RPB means “RTI Proprietary Barrel”.

Both the Prophet Performance v1 and v2 barrels have Lothar Walther RPB barrels in the .22 and .25 calibers.

The .177 and .30 barrels are Lothar Walther regular barrels (not proprietary to RTI).

The Prophet Performance v1 barrel in .22 has a very slow 1:32 twist rate. The slow twist allows it to keep pellets stable at high speeds. It’s optimized for long range pellet bench rest competitions.

The Prophet Performance v2 barrel in .22 has a faster 1:16 twist rate. RTI made the change to accommodate slug shooters. Slugs are spin stabilized, pellets are primarily drag stabilized.

The PP v2 barrel will NOT keep pellets stable at the high speeds that the v1 barrel can. The V2 barrel should shoot slugs better.

Hey I recently traded for a RTI Profit 2 performance in .22cal. I was told it had the new RPB barrel that shoots pellets and slugs. Now I'm thinking I got duped a d I'm going to have to spend $500+ on the .25cal RPB barrel kit. The port on this barrel is a small hole as where the one on the RPB barrel both .22 and .25 has a really large port. Any thoughts guys, this is my first RTI PROFIT II PERFORMANCE, I have been an avid AGT owner and I've tried everything else but this. I really love the gun and almost everything about it but I'm not sure about what barrel is right as I'm a slug shooter. They just perform better at longer distances? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

That, as you suspected is the long range barrel, not the RPB barrel. Airgun Heaven may have the RPB barrel cheaper than RTI.
‘The long range barrel was designed to shoot MRD’s at high velocities With a 1:32 twist rate.

I have that barrel on my prophet. I wouldn't trade it for any RPB barrel... Ever... Not saying the RPB barrel is bad...just that the LR barrels are freaking great..

I have been playing with slugs in my CZ 20" .22 prophet barrel and it is showing good promise after getting some NOE slug sizers. I am sizing down to .2157 and the choke is .216. Just need to get out to longer distances to confirm but 850-900 fps is showing solid close in groups. Faster and they open up.

I do Not know that rifle. With the marking one would think long range but exactly is the barrel???
Have you checked the twist rate, choked or not? LW does make slow twist in several cal. these day's.
