Tuning RTI Prophet Performance gauge position

Hello all, 

I picked up an RTI Prophet Performance a few weeks ago and so far love it.

The fill port and reg adjust point straight down which makes me need to to remove the bipod to fill or adjust the reg. I've seen quite a few pictures of the Prophet with the gauges and ports canted at 45 degree angles. Is there a way to get them in this position? The bottle and reg now are as tight as they're going to get.

Yes. Degass the bottle using the bleed screw on the butt stock.
Rotate the bottle to the orientation you want.

The bottle doesn’t have to be tight up against the action. 
Refill the bottle. 
Don’t worry, it won’t leak.

Don’t forget to tighten the bleed screw before attempting to fill.

Also, you will more than likely have to cock the gun before refilling.
Make sure you don’t have a magazine in the breech for safety reasons.

I just read that the regulator can be unscrewed a full turn and still seal. To get the reg where I'd like it would need to be unscrewed about 3/4 of a turn. Think that would be safe under pressure?

Personally, I’d want to keep mine tight.

I turned mine till the guages sat straight up under the barrel, fill port out the side and a tufforce rail extension on the bottom rail so I could mount a bipod further out. The 1/2" height rail extension has just enough room to sit against the bottle but not cause stress.

Remember, there are only 4 threads on that end of the reg. Without the reg butted up against the action, you guys are going to be leaning on those threads pretty hard. I just put my reg in my lathe and machined off a few thousandths to get my stuff lined up the way I like it. There was plenty of meat on that end of the reg I use. I’m not sure about RTI’s latest reg. I would have to look at it first.

I think I'm not going to mess with it. The rifle shoots great and is set up nicely. Removing the bipod to fill isn't that big a deal.

Their latest reg is just the internals are different. The housing is the same. I get the feeling the bottle threads bottom out on the outside of the receiver as opposed to the inside. He drilled the hole for the air passage right where the end of the reg would sit against and bottom out. It would be blocked by the end of the reg housing where the oring seals.

Get it positioned where you want it then put an oring, non-sealing obviously, in there to take up the slack and give you something to tighten / compress against between the regulator and receiver. Or get a different bipod that isn't in the way, my bipods do not interfere with fill port access.

I turned my gages up and tightened them down a bit.

I put an Accu-Tac BR4 G2 from another gun on the Prophet last night and there's enough space to fill and adjust the reg. 

Looks like another Accu-Tac bipod is in my future.
