RTI Prophet Performance Compact .22 --- A Few Observations

Likes:
lightweight at 6lbs
short, 25 - 3/4"
super accurate
great trigger and left it at factory setting
shot count around 70 / 6 magazines ( too busy dropping starling to count accurately)
shot-to-shot FPS consistency
externally adjustable regulator
external hammer adjustment
compact carbon fiber bottle
perfectly placed picatinny rail for a bipod
20 MOA built into the scope rail
it shoulders well for the occasional off-hand shot
JUST quiet enough for hunting GS and dairy vermin without shroud internals
magazines load easily
externally adjustable trigger screws
plenty of regulator and hammer spring to shoot 25.4 grain pellets if I want to

Dislikes:
cocking effort was not as smooth as my Taipan but it's MUCH better after 500 rounds and totally acceptable
it should come with baffles for that kind of money but I easily remedied that
the magazines take a bit to get comfortable with because they are ambidextrous

Summary:
It's definitely a KEEPER and vermin's worst nightmare.
It's cool having the high shot count with the regulator now set at 130bar.
I think the shot count is higher than 70 but I was busy loading mags and dropping starling.

RTI keeps improving...

Sharp edges on top of the thumb are now removed also.. I might get one of these so I can properly look at it under the microscope

Not so much on mine..! A sharp edge anywhere near the hand is a pretty "unfinished" part to me.

But, it is NOW gone.

Since I've started shooting with my thumb on the same side of the grip as the rest of my hand, it was most necessary to remove the sharp edge. A nice 45° works well there now.

Agreed, a great little gun.

Another reason I really like this gun...

Hi

I just got mine. It sure is light and compact. It reminds me of a leshiy gen one I had in its slenderness. Fits like a glove.

Mine came in shooting 18 jsbs at 940 fps. Kinda hot. It’s also loud. I attached a donnyfl tanto and it tamed it. Still has a little pop to it but I plan on decreasing the velocity to around 900 fps with 18s to decrease the report and get more shots per fill. In my experience, 18s shoot excellent at that speed accuracy wise. Tony sent me a target with a one hole group (5 shots) at 30 yards with 18s at 940. So it performs at that speed.

Mine makes a subtle whistling sound after each shot. I think it’s the regulator at work?? Have you guys experienced this?? Maybe it will go away after a break in period..

Also, it has the sharp edge on the side rails above and in back of the grip not the beveled edge referenced in the video. Not a big deal.

I also have the round magazine. It’s super easy to load. Definitely will need to order more.

Overall, I have a positive first impression of the gun. The fit and finish is top notch. DonnyFLs tanto and the rti have almost the exact same finish. I have no regrets selling my fx compact dream tact to fund this gun. I was worried I would however that is not the case so far.

One other thing I’m digging is its simplicity and ease of accessing the adjustments for the trigger and reg. There is no need to disassemble anything.

I’m hoping we get the baffles free when they become available. 🤞🏾

I have to to agree with Mike on his assessment. It’s spot on. Thanks man. I was followed your thread with anticipation of getting mine.

What is that sliver thing on the butt plate, ?

Mike

That is a bag rider.

Thank You that is a perfect description and correct. Saw the add-on part in a video by Gregor Kamensek discussing the Extreme Bench Rest 2019 with RTI Arms new Prophet in Arizona. Made the "bag rider" with 1" al tubing, a cap welded onto the end of the tubing then threaded a hole in the center of the cap and screwed it onto a 2.5" flat head phillips bolt / screw.

The factory buttplate has a hole that I put the bolt through and it is chamfered / tapered so the bolt is flush.

The video starts at 6:40 where he discusses using the Bag Rider and sand bags for a rear rest.

What size bottle have you got on your compact ? Is it a mk1 or mk2 compact and also what shot count are you getting ? I have a performance compact in 22 mk1 but only seeing 45/50 shots a fill before hitting reg at 130
