RTI RTI prophet l , Gage in the rear..

And be careful taking out that foster fitting. Use the right size socket and if it fights you at all, put heat to it. A couple years ago a guy made a mess of his gun getting it out. Mine came out of my Priest fairly easy but I hit it with some heat first.
I was fortunate with this one, the rear foster was sealed with a dowty seal. Some of the earlier versions were loc-tighted on and were a bear to get off.

I have a prophet l set up in 177,22, 25, and 30 caliber , Kinda of a closet gun, But I would like to put a digital gauge in the rear of the gun,, It seem all the digital gages are to big.
and body done this and kept the part numbers ,,, I think RTI made the port to install a back pack bottle or something ,,,,

Hi Mike,

The purpose of the fill port at the back of the Prophet V1 was to support tethered shooting.

Despite its small length, the Prophet Performance V1 was designed to compete in 100 yard benchrest - the .22 LR barrel designed to keep MRDs stable at velocities even exceeding 1,000 fps.

To shoot tethered to the rear port requires removing the carbon fibre bottle. Also, since the rear port bypasses the regulator, you would want an inline regulator to support tethered shooting.

Because of these additional requirements, I never tried using the rear port for tethering. If the bottle could have remained attached, I’d have definitely tried it.

Yep I kind of lusted after the 22 LR barrel , But really 99.9 % of my shooting is at 50 yards and below , I played around with slugs with the Vi but Pellets have alway made a tighter group,, I got the 700cc bottle on my gun and I get a lot of shots before any refill, Tuned it to day shooting JSB 25.39 gr pellets reg set at about 150 adjusted hammer spring until it sounded good, shooting at about 900 FPS, , Really like my RTI guns VI and V2 but going to side step the Mora , and get a new Semi auto Taipan, Got to make some room and break the rule no more new rifles , Went a little pistol crazy this past year, Birthday present coming in a week or so, A hand made one off shorty 22 Tequila pistol,,, Its going to be a keeper for sure ,

I’ll add some general stuff since we’re talking about the rear tether port. Guns that have it like my Priest l and Priest ll did also required a poppet valve in the transfer tube. But under normal use, that valve may have been causing inconsistencies so a lot of guns were shipped without them. So when a guy decided he was going to try the tether life, he would blow all the air from his tether bottle out the front of the gun. Our Priest l guns were known as squealers. They blamed the reg but that transfer tube valve IMO wasn’t helping.

I skipped the P1 and went to the P2. If you have your P1 apart some day and it has that valve in the transfer tube, eliminate it. I think originally we drilled a little hole in them and kept them in place. I wish I could be more specific but that was so many guns ago and probably seven years.
