RTI RTI dumped air for awhile?

I am still pretty green with PCP's so 'WARNIN' - but, eager to learn and explore the hobby more. Simply a brand new RTI prophet from TT and it started dumping air. I had dry fired the rifle a few times before and also seen others do so in tuning videos - no issues. I filled the rifle to 200 for the second time. Been interested in getting a moderator and decided to test out several 3D printed versions. After one or two shots - no pellets - air started leaking out around the prob mag area and the sound echoed through the barrel. I could not tell exactly where but could feel air around the prob magazine area. The leak gradually slowed down and quit around 150 or so then stopped. Oh no ... great, warranty back to TT?

Filled back up to 200 and then just shot of some pellets with the moderator on. So far, not dumping air ... least nothing noticeable, yet. Another item I have noticed is the fill probe seems to need to pressurize up before something gives in the rifle, pressure gauge drops on the compressor and then fills to bottle. There is actually a slight audio pop when the bottle starts to accept air.

Just symptoms of breaking in?

i do have that "pop" on refilling..not sure what is it..seems harmless.
The pressure gauges are not that accurate, maybe your reg is higher than bottle pressure...not sure if that would cause a leak.
if it stopped..maybe an Oring was out of place and settled in to it's grooves?
I just grabbed one of these for my Prophet as a rear rest..cheap and handy..just need a rear bag

enjoy your Prophet

Sounds to me like you "fell off the reg", in turn dumping the air...
As stated above the gauges are not 100% accurate so reading 150 could actually be high or low ....

As to the so called pop when filling, this seems to be a normal characteristic of the RTI, I suggest NOT opening the valve wide open at the beginning of the fill, gradually open it and slowly fill it... I assume you are filling out of some sort of bottle or tank?

Filling directly from the GX CS3 compressor. I have not decided on a scope yet ... Arken has served me well but like to try something different. Liking UTG mounts ... great fit, finish, and machining. Atlas bipod does the job, good for display on the living room floor for pictures. Since last night, no leaking ... need to get outside and run a bunch of pellets.

At those settings and if you’re going to be shooting 18.1’s, you’re going to have a lovely shooting gun. Shouldn’t take a dirtbike muffler to keep it nice and quiet. Get some pellets through it so everything can start to get settled in. Like others have said, the pop during filling should only be a concern when you don’t get it because you might have a leak when you disconnect.

I did contact RTI, they claimed my prophet had the latest valve per serial #. Even said they would send out a valve just incase. Has not arrived as of yet. So far, air has not dumped again, but not out shooting right now either.
i contacted them as well when i had the P3 about the regulator, i asked them why does my p3 have a number 6 regulator housing. the response was the regulator internals are the latest version. but they where not.

I need to get a scope, want to try something other than an Arken with illuminated reticle ... yet in the same cost category. With the range capabilities of the prophet II, have some recommendations for near to far for me?

I have an OCD-generated tool for your scope search I will send you. ✅

A thought: A separate thread in the scope section will get you many more replies to your question. 😊

Cheers,

Matthias

Then I found the fix leak video on youtube. So its a total disassembly to replace the valve? Oh my goodness, not something expected on a new purchase. Comes down to either me or TT doing the work if it goes that direction. Still no valve(s) have arrived and won't go the replacement route by myself until it happens again and again. With my OCD, servicing a rifle usually ends up with some love marks in the process.

My prophet 2 has spent more time apart than actually shooting.
On for the 3rd valve, fortunately they are easy to change, just puts me off using the troublesome piece of potential.

Hi guys,

My reg leaked from the 'nipple'.

I changed the o-rings on the reg, and it leaked from the reg screw adjustment.

I tightened the screw all the way in and the leak stopped. I filled the air up to 100 bar (my scuba tank had only about 100 left), and lossened the reg adjustment screw slowly. Suddenly it leaked from the barrel.

I changed all the o-rings on the valve components. And it still leaks. The leak from the reg adjustment screw is also a mistery. Initally, the reg was set at about 160 bar plus before the reg leak, and it was doing fine. I can't remember how much reg screw adjustment it took to set the reg to 160 bar. But I'm concerned that it was the first time I had a leak from the reg adjustment screw because I will set it at about 160 -170 bar again.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thank you.

That pic makes it look like the reg pressure is set below the minimum working pressures of the regulator. Might start there if that's the case. Also another thread complaining about this rifle and you don't even have a scope mounted yet. Yeesh...

I purchased my P-3 from TT and while I am overly pleased with the service and have already made further purchases from him. When I started setting mine up for how it will be used I found the hammer spring not set at all as in still backed all the way off so no way the valve was opening or closing properly.

I also had a valve fail on my P2. The symptoms were similar to yours. Rok sent me a new one, I replaced it following Gregor K's video on Prophet 2 disassembly/reassembly:
and am in the process of tuning the hammer spring/regulator pressure balance to attain a particular velocity.

I also had the regulator leak around the protruding pin. I rebuilt it following this video:

The gun shoots well and holds air. Probably my favorite PCP.
