RTI Prophet .25 with Priest 2 .177 barrel

.... a potential little slugger? ;-) I just put this barrel into it and did a quick little 'tune' / test in the back yard at 27 yards. 12.5 NSA's going at 870. Reg @120. I took a second picture using my pinky finger as the first one with my thumb is too big - 5 shots. @Orion is working on a magazine for .177 so it's just the single feed for the time being. I'm curious to take this out to 75 and 100 yds.

... I stayed out for another 30 minutes or so but the damned mosquitoes are getting terrible. This is at 56yds. Same tune. In my head I did rudimentary 'math'... ( guesstimated on how much I'd need to dial ) " ... first one was 27 yds... this one's ranging at 56 .... dial up 6 or 7 clicks." First two were a bit high - I settled on 5 clicks.

It will probably be at about a 2” group at 100yrds. For me, my slug guns have to be one hole at 30 and a cluster all touching at 50 in order for their to be hope at 100. Doesn’t hurt to try. It’s fun experimenting.

How much (if any) quieter was it with the 20" barrel in the full length shroud.

"Reg 120", plenty left in the tank, One would think.

@vetmx - indeed on the experimenting. I should probably shoot with a rear bag or something to see *just* how steady / consistent it really is shooting - I tend to go with just the bipod and try to keep it as steady as I can with the butt end in my shoulder. Sometimes I find myself backing off away from the table a little bit as my heart beat . . . well you know. ( on target, pulse - off target, on target, pulse - off target . . . {sigh} (( lol )) )

@harrymoreland -- actually I was playing with it again this afternoon as I had the day off from work ( dr. appointments and other stuff ) and just for kicks I did shoot it with and w/out the moderator on the end of it. It still has a 'bark' to it without the moderator - so if you want quiet - still going to need one. One of the other guys in here states in another thread that Daystate baffles fit (with a little tape as a minor mod) and really help to knock the sound down. I'm hoping he gets back to me re: where did he purchase them from - I'd like to check this out as I'd really like to run it without an add-on moderator if possible. I don't have one on either of my Taipans and those things are stupid quiet. 

Oh - interesting observation testing with and without moderator - the gun shoots 'hotter' without it. ie; it went from low 870's to mid-to-high 890's. ?? Any of you reading this - does that jive? I know they will (obviously) knock the sound down, and I've read they can make a difference in point of impact . . . I've never read or heard anything about them affecting speed though.

This is a personal thing but I’ll tell you how I shoot and have always shot when judging a guns accuracy potential. I use a front bag and rear bag. With my real guns I use an adjustable tripod with a small bag on it. It also has a little arm on it so the stock of my rifle is sitting on the exact same spot on my stock for every shot. My airguns aren’t so sensitive and I’m also not shooting 500-1,000yrds. I know bipods are what all the cool guys are using and I use them too for field use. That’s after the gun has been scrutinized in bags. I have found that a small bag under the grip really works well. Also, with your reg at 120b, your gun shouldn’t be getting too jumpy yet.

RTI with (if I understand it right) Gregor's help have been working on baffles for their guns, it seems to be taking some time, maybe focused on the compact.

In the mean time good folk like yourself and the other RTI owners on AGN will trailblaze their own path.

Hyperbole (maybe a little ;-) ) but I love this forum, it's a mine of information.

If RTI is working on a baffle or silencing system for their guns, I’m not sure of what the hold up could possibly be. It took me one evening. I went one route, then another. Settled on the second thing I tried. They are probably battling a couple things. They have 3 guns, all with different available space in the end of the shroud. They will want it to be easily installed, even by the most ham fisted airgunner. Lastly, they have to make sure it doesn’t wreck the long range accuracy of each gun. A baffle stack with a spring was the first thing I tried years ago. It was a quick fix but the spring blocks all the holes in the disc that centers the shroud. This essentially renders your shroud useless for stripping air and routing it back the shroud. It creates a lot of air pressure in the end of the shroud. It can either shorten the lifespan of the baffles or mess with long range accuracy.
