RTI Prophet 2 Wheezing?

Just a possible scenario…a balanced valve CAN use more air when dry firing. It depends on pressure at the stem to properly close as designed. This pressure brings the inside of the balance chamber up to the same pressure around it, allowing it to close. Also, the diameter of the stem (that passes into the hammer area) acts as a piston to create a closing force, which will also be less when dry firing. This increases dwell and empties more plenum volume which ABRUPTLY opens the regulator. Fast refill.

If the gun is tuned lower and you are firing live, the plenum is only depleted a sip with a minor pressure drop. This makes the reg lazy in the refill process and you will probably hear it due to it barely opening.

Just a possibility.

Normal? Not sure.
Mine is an older 2020 Prophet Plus .22 and has done the same thing since day one. A buddy of mine got one at the same time from the same place. His doesn’t.
Neither of us have experienced any issues with thousands of rounds down range.
I always believed it was the plenum refreshing. I was told to remove the set screw just in front of the breech that secures the barrel and wrap it with Teflon tape and it will stop the “wheezing”. Not sure how that’s supposed to work…
Personally, mine is a tack driver and I subscribe to the, “if it ain’t broke…”

I have 3 prophets 1 out of 3 will do it.. weird thing is the 1 that makes that sound will only do it when I have the 177 barrel on it but it won't when I put the 25 barrel on..
That is another scenario where the plenum pressure only drops a little during the shot, causing the reg to barely open which makes a sound.

I got in contact with RTI about the wheezing issue. See below:

Gregor had a video where he had that "feature" I think the valve can be removed
On the RTI FB group several people has removed the wheezing valve.. I finally did on my prophet but haven't on my prophet compacts ... It's only noticable to the shooter.. people not too far from me can't hear it.. therefore neither can the small game I'm hunting, so until I have to take it apart for some reason..then I may remove it. Until then depending on barrel/tune I have on it...it's a wheezer
