RTI Priest 2 Review (Video)

Hi everyone,

I've just uploaded my review on the RTI Priest 2. This is not the typical review you might find online, I took the gun and use it for almost 4 months and while using it I found many issues and I went ahead and fixed those, some with 3D Print parts and others in a different way. My objective is to share with you all my experience with the gun and give you my most honest opinion, and boy I'm a critical person.

I love the gun the way it is now. It's not perfect and I hope the new Prophet will improve on some of the things I discuss on this video.

Please check it out and give me your feedback, it's very much appreciated!

How refreshing, a non sponsored, non paid review. Way to go Erlis, just tell it how it is, no bullpoopting and no sugar coating. I especially liked how you found solutions to the issues you had with the gun.

I also loved your "real" groups, makes me feel better about my own shooting 😃. Rock on Erlis, and go get em Iguanas, I need more Iguana videos 👍

Hi everyone! Thanks for the great feedback. This is not the regulator I want, because it's not adjustable and one of the reasons I went this gun is adjustability. But is something that get me going for cheap. The good thing is that RTI knows about the regulator problem and I'm waiting on them to send me the next version...I think there are a lot of people waiting..

There was a question about if FX or RTI...I don't own an FX so I think it won't be fair telling one over the other, but I can tell that I'm really happy with RTI, the gun is a work of art, I think was designed with us in mind, anyone can work on it, everything is simple a efficient. Also I love how you can little by little convert your Priest2 into a Prophet for example if you want. Great customer service also, so yes I'm super happy with RTI.

Sam, sure we can do a TechTalk about 3d print, that's my other Hobby, that and filming also. Hey don't worry about long comment a 30 min video deserve those and I really enjoyed reading your words!!

I can guarantee you would like cocking my gun. Very easy with this setup I made. Your shroud was designed around the shorter aluminum bottle and fixed reg version of the gun. When RTI offered the CF bottle and reg, they didn’t make a longer shroud. I prefer my bipod mounted forward but closer to the gun. You could do some major damage to iguanas with my gun but it probably wouldn’t be safe with 34gr slugs going 930fps. Your snap on thumb protector is a really good idea.

I am awaiting a replacement reg as well. Running a similar inexpensive reg set to a similar 150 bar.

I would echo all of his pluses and minuses.

The light weight is really nice.

The barrel should be just a little bit longer so more silencers would work.

The sharp edges are annoying. There are sharp edges on a lot of tactical style PCPs now...like the Impact which I find annoying as well. However, the two points he shows are particularly annoying because the web of your hand tends to pivot against them when you carry the gun. I've seen grips with a rearward lip that might address this.

A couple other issues and positive comments.

The gun could use some king of depinger. It has a very high pitched echoing hammer sound right next to your ear. Very unpleasant.

The screw that retains the shroud from turning out can offset the shroud and cause silencer clipping. It isn't needed anyway (most guns, like the Impact, don't have lock screws on their shrouds) and I just removed it.

The chamfer on the breech is very small. This causes even the tiniest misalignment of the magazine to cause loading and clipping issues. I added a larger chamfer and this fixed those issues.

There were no...or very small chamfers on the magazine loading holes. This makes loading the magazine more difficult and is particularly frustrating with small calibers like .177 which require a tool to push to seat the pellets. I increased the chamfer on mine. I too am considering designing a 3D printed magazine for it. I'm thinking of one with a removable cover, like the Impact or new Daystate mags, for easier pellet loading.

It does OK with slugs. This is a nice plus. I shoot NSA's with mine.

The stock buttplate is just a flat piece of aluminum. Another 3D printing opportunity to add curvature. The regular version's (non-HP) throw is too short so this will really improve it.

Vetmx, I love that setup you have over there. I can't see the details on your cocking lever but sure it looks interesting! As always you are an inspiration for me but you are on the big leagues working with metal, I'm just working with plastic :) I'll love to feed an iguana and get its last confession with your Priest!

DanielL, thanks for all the help you gave me in the past while researching the pellet shaves, it helps tremendously.

DDark, I've ordered mags from CARM, and they are awesome! Also not that expensive, compared with the mags offered by RTI, but then, why paying if can build my own? I'll see if can design one like the one DanielL mentioned in his comment, because that way I can use the speed loader we are building with those too.
