RTI Lothar Walther RPB barrel

Yes I was also told the barrels are all interchangeable, Which in my book puts a big PLUS on the RTI line, As I have the 177,25,and 30 barrels already. I also here about other brands of barrel flex, Barrel tension, and barrel weights,,, You don't need all that stuff with a RTI barrel, Its built like a crowbar super strong no flex and no bend...
RTI knows how to built a barrel..

RBP is a Lothar Walther barrel they are having special made for RTI. Has a dual port transfer like FX, Taipan, etc. Also a different twist and lighter choke supposed to work well with pellets and slugs. Was debating converting my compact into a slug only gun. The 20" barrel will still fit in the compact shroud with about an 1-1.5" of open space at the end. Or get the 24" shroud and put my baffles in that with the 20" barrel. Or test my Taipan with slugs and leave the RTI for pellets. I pulled the barrel and ran a pellet through to see how tight the choke is. About an inch from the end and the choke felt decently tight. Miked the pellet and was getting under .214" choke. I also added a steel bolt into the hammer for weight as the stock compact comes with an aluminum spacer inside. I cut the threads off the bolt and left about an inch of non threaded body, turned the hex head down to fit inside the hammer. The bolt now acts like a spring guide. Hoping to use less hammer spring to open the valve with a heavier hammer. Also polished up the outside of the hammer body.

My 0.22 Prophet 2 performance shoots amazingly well with slugs in 0.218. With the balanced valve it's so much easier to tune for slugs than my impacts it's crazy. But that's another topic entirely...
It also happens to shoot pellets as well as any other barrel I've come across too.
Seems RTI have managed to achieve what I had hoped Daystate would with their ART barrels back when they announced them and make a super versatile barrel that'll shoot just about anything straight, with less of the harmonic stuff to deal with.
Anyway, don't just limit testing to 0.217 and 0.216 when you get it. After testing mine a bit it's the most excited I've been about a gun in a long while

Just got a notification that my 20" Walther RPB barrel has been shipped. Grabbed a 24" shroud and the compact prophet shroud leaves about 1" of free space at the end with the 20" barrel. I will try both shrouds to see which one I like better. Going to be testing the new barrel with NSA slugs in .217 and .216.
Just wondering what results you got with the different size slugs? I had some H&N 21gr. 218's and they shot pretty well at 25 yds. Reg set at 130bar and 1000fps. I don't have anywhere to shoot longer distances at the moment.

Have you slugged your barrel yet to see what size it is? Could take a lot of the guess work out of trying different slugs. My CZ barrels were running .216 after pushing through the choke. .217 slugs were slow and tight.
No, I haven't I guess that would work also. I guess I shouldn't assume that all of the barrels are the same dimension. LOL I've got some .218's that I could try doing that with. Never slugged a barrel, but it's easy enough. It would be a good opportunity to polish the barrel and check the crown and leade.
