Royale 500 to Patriot Wildcat,

I bought my Royale 500 not that long ago and it is/was a excellent shooter off the bench, I had no issues with it what so ever but as time goes on and I’ve only been shooting off the bench the last 5 years due to my disability I decided I’ve had enough and I’m tired of just bench shooting and I want to try to get back out in the woods and walk as much as my disability will let me, Well now I’ll have a nice light and shorter Airgun that I can manage in the woods, anyway I came across a deal that was to good to pass up on my Royale and I’ve always thought the Wildcat would make a good Carry Airgun for me if I decide I wanted to walk and shoot/hunt.
I am now the proud owner of a Patriot Wildcat in .25, hopefully this will be light and short enough for me to enjoy in the woods but only my body will tell me if it’s a go and if it’s still to much I can still shoot it off the bench with as much accuracy as the Royale and still be content plus have a awesome looking Bullpup style Airgun. I’m going to get ahold of Matt for a couple of his mag holders plus I ordered a 3 mag holder for the stock so with a full bottle and 5 mags I should be able to walk and hunt for awhile without having to carry extra weight, I’m so hoping this will get me back in the woods and off the bench.....I do enjoy bench shooting but would really like to have a option for shooting and I believe the Wildcat will give me what I’m looking for, I know there are a few other Bullpups out there that would work just as well but I personally like the looks of the Wildcat.
When I receive it next week or so I’ll post pics of it being it is the Patriot version......
Any helpful hints on the Wildcat are welcome.....JSB 25.39 will be what I’m shooting thru it.

Get some sticky back felt for the stock mag holder system. It will help to protect your finish as well as help lock it in to the stock a little tighter. Also, DON'T over tighten it!
You don't actually need extra mags, if you don't want them. You can load the magazine while it's in the rifle. But, the convenience of loaded mags and not having loose pellets is nice too.
Clean the barrel first! If you want the best performance from it, clean it right away.
If you're going to use a Harris bipod, you can install it on the FX bottle clamp. Mount the clamp about 1/8" in front of the stock. The Harris base will land partially on the stock. It's a bit crooked but, I never noticed any negative side effects.
Ernest Rowe (Youtube) has a video about polishing the magazine cycling arm. I would recommend doing this right away. Otherwise, your mags will get scratched up. It's very easy to do.
The Wildcats are nice because they're a "pick it up and shoot it" style of rifle. It should be good right away and remain consistent.
Happy Shooting!
Tom

Thanks for that bit of info Tom I appreciate it, I planed on cleaning the barrel right away and using the tap with the mag holder, I have numb fingers so handling pellets is a challenge at times which is why I like the .25-.357-.45 caliber Rifles, the idea of pre loading the mags is a big plus for me if I try to go out and walk around with it, on the bench it isn’t as much of a issue.
Ill also watch the ER video on polishing the cycling arm.
Thanks again...

Thanks Pat, Winter is getting closer and the deer are moving and so are the yotes late at night, the yotes are still a bit quite at night but as each week passes they are yipping more and more, go out at 2-3am and you can hear them all around, need my HMx to do some damage control and now I’ll be also counting on the WC to help too maybe.
Yep I think I got a winner all set up with a cool dip, picatinny rail on front for bipod and a nice Moderator to boot. Very nice package indeed.....

That's a great idea make sure you start with small doses and not over-do it in the beginning i've had some pretty serious impacts that have banged up my body pretty good and when I do self induced rehab of sorts I find it helps to slowly build up the endurance. Wise decision on getting back into woods walking, good luck man! Looking forward to seeing your next new gun haha.

Yeah ... love that Patriot WC. I got mine from Utah Airguns about 2 weeks ago and it is a pure beauty. Shot pretty darn good right out of the box, then I saw where someone posted that their WC shot even better when he lubed the pellets ... so I said what da heck ... grabbed a bottle of FP-10, put about 8 to 10 drops on a whole tin of JSB 25.39 and proceeded to check it out and I'm here to tell ya that the difference is dramatic ... it made a gun that was shooting pretty darn good shoot crazily insane. You might wantto check it out also to see if it works with your gun. I'm guessing that if you got the Patriot that you also got the Sumo ... makes the gun about as loud as the click of a camera but it does add some length to the gun. Infact when you take the Impact with a .25 barrel on it and put 6 sections of the moderator on it, it is the exact same size as the Patriot with the Sumo on it. Methinks you are gonna love this little gun, not finicky at all, just give it what it likes to eat and sit back and enjoy.

I have a fused and plated neck and suffer from chronic pain and have a Morphine pump in my lower back that dispenses Morphine mix 24/7.

"dirtbikerick"You are just gonna love the wildcat, I added matts mag holders and just put a sumo on from donnyFL, I can't stop shooting mine, I love the patriot too, congrats.
I’m going to PM Matt today to see how I pay for 2 of them, when I get my PWC I’m going to possibly paint the mag holders white or something on that order to match the PWC.

I’ve done business with Austin before and that’s why I’m going this route, I like Utah Airguns but I also like a few, other places to.
I read where guys are using FP-10 and getting good groups, think I’ll just put a few drops on the foam pad inside the tin and lightly shake them around..my 1st item on my to do list is run my patchworm thru it a few times and then just shoot it and go from there. I don’t have to worry about neighbors so if I want I can just remove the Sumo and have a bit shorter WC.

I really liked the Royale 500 but just can’t afford to spend 3400.00 in a month on two plus I decided I wanted to try to get off the bench and see if I can do some walking around and small game hunting and with the WC being just as light but shorter I figured this would be the way to go from all the talk and reviews, if I’m still unable to walk around with this at least it’s still a accurate Airgun off the bench. It’s very important on how I hold a Airgun due to my fused and plated neck and chronic pain, need to keep the left arm tucked in as close to me as possible and weight is a big factor also.
The trigger is also a big deal due to my numb fingers, I need to feel the 1st stage so I don’t just set the trigger off, also having the cocking lever more centered is also important and that’s why I left a few other bullpups off the table that would be totally capable of getting me off the bench.

A pic and shot string of my new Patriot Wildcat before Austin shipped it out.
