Have a new royale with 480cc cf cylinder shoots Jsb 18gr 880-885fps only getting 79 shots from 230 down to 130 bar could there be something wrong with the reg new to pcp don't know too much

No not a fps issue From the reviews I've watched thought I should be getting at least 100 on full power

That's a low shot count for a regulated royale with a 480cc. Are you trusting the rifle gauge? Keep in mind it may be some bars off

The gauge on the gun and my pump read the same How else could Tell l did dry fire it with no air pressure when l first got it could l have damaged something

Ya....... I'm averaging 900 FPS which eats a bit more air. Like Menttaliist stated the small gauges can be off.

dry fireing with no air in your gun isint a good thing. you may have damaged one part that's easy to damage with no air dry fire

Took the Royale out today after you started the topic for a test. I am shooting 914 FPS avg. with JSB 18s at a 230 fill. I am able to get about 90 shots before falling off the regulator. I would have put up my chrono work, but the data would crash every time I would reach about 75 shots (started over three times). I would lose all my data with no memory.
So shooting at a lower FPS like you say you should probably do at least a 100 in my opinion.

Dry firing when low on pressure is a big no no with low pressure on it. It mushrooms the valve when the hammer hits it? You need back pressure to keep this from happening. Usually the air will leak out the barrel and empty the gun when it is damaged. It sounds like you don't have that issue though.
If the regulator leaked by, you would have generally have higher FPS. Now what power are you shooting on? Three I'm assuming? Now if your shooting on a lower setting and it is 885 maybe an reg leak by. If I recall I'm a lot lower FPS on two.
If the hammer is screwed in too far it will waste air. This makes me ask again what power level are you on?
Last question......... You noted the gauge on the pump and gun are the same. Hand pump right? If you used a bottle and filled too fast the bottle will heat as compressed. This would give you higher pressure until the gun's bottle cooled. Kind of a false full 230bar leaving you with lower starting pressure.
