Routine Barrel Cleaning?

Hello All,
I'm pretty new to everything and just learning as I go. I got my first PCP, A.V. Avenger Bullpup 2, 25 cal. and just recently finished off the first tin (350x) of pellets. I've read several different suggestions regarding cleaning the barrel. My initial thought is to leave it alone unless I noticed anything off but thought I better get a better opinion.
Is it better to run a patch thru? If so what's the best method? Is just a weed whacker string with a patch? Should I use any type of solvent or cleaner?
Any other routine maintenance thoughts are appreciated. I very lightly touched some silicon oil to the little rings on the pellet probe and near the fill port. Otherwise that's it.
Thank you very much !!!

I clean the barrel when I notice the accuracy is off. I use weed whacker mine and a patch sprayed with Ballistol. I keep running Pat he’s thru until they come out clean. Then I take 4-5 shots and the accuracy is back. There’s several ways to clean your barrel. Experiment and use the one that works best for you

Here you go - The Patchworm system is great. I only clean when new or accuracy goes to hell.

Spray Ballistol oil on a patch, it will probably take 3 or 4 patches, but you can tell when they start coming out clean. I use a carbon fiber gun rod with a nylon patch holder. I have a patch worm kit but prefer the rod. Avoid gun cleaning solvents they may be harsh on o rings. I have also heard to flip the gun upside down so nothing falls inside the transfer port. I have foam V blocks on my bench that I rest the gun in

I only clean when I notice the accuracy is off. My Mora fortunately likes a cleaner barrel.

Since the barrels I have are all steel, I'll take a cleaning kit with brass parts, fit them for the length of the barrel and attach them to an electric drill. I'll take a brass wire brush attachment and just go to town up and down the barrel. I don't care about only going one way to from the breach to the end or whatever. Then I'll take a bore snake through a few times then finish with a patch moistened lightly with ballistol, then finish with dry patches.

I started doing this when my airmaks katran barrel just would not stop showing rust on the patches. A little miffed that a 'new' gun was showing rust like this but whatever. I tried that out since brass can't scratch steel and poof, no more rust after a few more patches. Shot better too, could be placebo though.

I do know that my Mora shot incredible after a round or two to 'leaden' the barrel. The groups tightened waay up. I hadn't cleaned it in a while before the first time I did this, I figured why not it's also a steel barrel.

Don't do this with a steel cleaning rod/kit though. Needs to be done with a metal that's softer than the barrel. Oh and also make sure there aren't any o-rings inside the barrel or you can kiss them goodbye. The Mora has them on the outside but the Katran has one on the inside.
