ROT 2023 Results

The Republic of Texas Championship and Grand Prix Jamboree got off to a bang today. We had 15 Hunter Pistol shooters on a mild and overcast day. We also had a few people that are shooting the rifle match this weekend come out and help. A big thanks to Kirk and James Darroch and Pablo for helping with the course, Terri and the ladies for holding down the fort and Griff for taking on dog walking duties. We had one cold line that was a disputed target which was resolved amicably in the targets favor. Jeff and I put a lot of thought and effort into this match (I was more on the effort side of things) and I don't think Day 1 could have gone better.

With the ideal conditions, Jeff Cloud shot a 53 of 56 with his new RAW pistol. I have it on good authority that the pistol was doing the heavy lifting.
Ron Robinson and Paul Bracaglia rounded out 2nd and 3rd. Here is the scoreboard and some photos. This weekend should be some fine shooting conditions.

Post match lying session. Billy (back left) was just informed that I would NOT be paying for his steak.
I believe Ron is showing David the salt shaker taco hold. Jim B and Jeff are being too polite to tell Jim C that they can't understand his accent.
I didn't get an after photo of everyone in a steak coma because I was in a steak coma.

Just a curiosity question. Do all the pistols above meet the Hunter FT length requirements??
Is that requirement 14 inches?
All pistols must be less than 25 inches over all, no more than 3 inches below the barrel bore, no more than 15 inch barrel length. And all less than 12 ft lbs. and no more than 12x power with the scope when shooting the match

Day 1 Rifle (aka Day 2) was fantastic. Started a little chilly and warmed up nicely, very little breeze. Hunter PCP is being led by Mark Welker, Rick Cuccio and Brian Stafford, all separated by 1 shot. David Alsup has a commanding lead in WFTF PCP. David Abshire and Craig Martin are in a tight race for Open PCP. Griff Cutti is leading the Hunter Piston shooters but with tomorrow's forecast, that one is wide open.

Here's the scoreboard. I was too busy/distracted to take more photos, I'll try to do better tomorrow.

I don't want to spoil the final results, I'll wait for the official match report. So here are some photos from today, it was great. We had cool. We had warm. We had sun. We had rain (briefly). We had wind. We had more wind. We went all out to make sure we had a little something for everyone. Our weather bill is going to be crazy this month.
Congrats to the world's nicest Okie for shooting the match high in Hunter PCP. Luckily, a Texas won the WFTF class (and 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th). And a Cajun won Open class (and Hunter Piston, different Cajun). So the entire tri-state area was represented on the podium.

Scott I love all the pic's but I think the black and white is my favorite !
Well, here are the other "artistic" shots that my phone took. They're a little avant garde for my taste.

I believe this is the very nice couple that help run the sporting clays course for the club. As we were eating lunch they took down the entire course. Oh, and my gun cart.
