RMAC practice.

Jeff

I can’t attend RMAC or EBR either, but I think your card/score would be 4 or possibly 5 points higher if you had used the scoring plug. I looked at some of your close shots and several may hit the higher ring score with the plug. Mike would have a better feel for this though.

This is a good card, especially since you are using the new Thomas HPX and getting used to it.

Thank you very much.

I really like shooting this centercut targets for practice and see different results, it makes me want to practice more and try to improve.

I will take a 215 on a major event any day 😀

I know that on events the results tend to get lower due to different reasons but we have to continue practicing.

Next week I hope to find some bench time, work is really not allowing me to practice the way I should.

Those cards aren’t as bad as you think. Especially shooting them “competition style” vice the 5 shot “group style” that can lead you to believe your scores are better than they really are. My 218 with the .25 Delta Wolf wasn’t that great but only had one 7. Too many 8s. ;(

Bleu my .22 RW HP just seems to give me better precision. But then dealing with RD Monsters can be frustrating and tricky with unexplained flyers from time to time I don’t get with .30 Exact or .25 Heavy.

I’m becoming convinced that for whatever reason, a left to right wind is more conducive to good scores then a right to left wind. IMHO of course.

Today I shot with Mike at 100 and the wind would play havoc on pellets especial the right to left wind near the target you don’t see or feel…200, 203, 207….not very good, but my first 3 cards ever shot. We even used a timer and both of us were done in under 8 minutes.

Hey Tony

First ever 100 yard cards shot and with wind, and broke 200. Pretty good solid start!

You have a ‘personal airgun trainer’ so soak up the knowledge.

Way to go!

Today I got a call 5am from work and they cancelled my assignment so I prepared and ran early to the range.

I had a tin of this old MRD, the one with a shallow butt and it looks the HPX likes it better.

Shot 3 cards.

My setup is poor I know, but I have to work on it and have a light package to be able to travel to a major event. My front rest is just too heavy to travel with.First was with no raining very light wind from 8 to 7 o clock. This was with new MRD (deep butt) shooting at about 982fps.

No plugs used yet as they might arrive in 2 weeks time.

Second card was with new MRD @ 980fps but got some light rain and calm wind.

Third was with Old MRD pellet ( the one with a shallow butt hole) @990fps and some very light rain and wind calm. The sighter I shot 4 shots and they were less than 1 inch so I proceeded to the targets.

The only bad thing here is I only have 2 tins left of this Old MRD pellet and don't think I will be able to get more in the near future.

Had a very nice shooting time today 😅

I hope you have a good shooting weekend also 😀👍👍👍👍

Super nice range. Good cards. Once you get more comfortable with those start shooting one target one shot till you shoot 5 then do it again four more times. This way you’ll see how your scores compare to RMAC and EBR scores. Shooting 5 shot groups is fun, but the scores will be higher than reality compared to shooting in a competition.

Thanks guys, as I said before this type of shooting and sharing is very encouraging.

Mike, this cards were shot using the same methodology you started since EBR 9.5 I go shoot sighters and then jump 1 shot each bull then repeat until you have 25 shots. Sometimes when I see a different shot I go back to the sighter to see if I missed something. I try not to shoot groups for practice any more, only for sighters.

Thanks again for your encouraging words.

Jeff.

That’s great. It’s about 5 points harder to do it one by one than to shoot 5 groups. Nice shooting.

The reason why I am a believer of this method is because when Mike ( CC) opened the 2020 EBR 100 yard virtual thread last year, some of us ( me for sure ) were shooting 5 shot scoring groups at each bull initially when we posted our early cards. If you have a good wind condition you can ‘slightly’ adjust your hold and shoot a good score if you take 5 quick shots at the same bull. Much easier and rewarding, but unfortunately it’s not the way these tournaments work.

Once we did it competition style, we found it to be much harder. The whole idea was to to simulate the actual EBR or RMAC face to face competitions, but shooting virtually at our home ranges, and on the honor system.

I actually like it, but it’s considerably harder because I have to move my rig for each individual bull. Can’t just fire off 5 quick shots with little to no adjustment.

Apologize if this is obvious to many, but I’m just providing context for the average or new BR shooters.
