rings and mounts

I prefer dovetail, hands down. I see no point for Weaver except for magnum springers, and only then if there's no stop pins for a dovetail. As a matter of fact, stop pins are a joke in my opinion. If the scope moves, it will move up against the pin fore, and then up against the pin aft on the next shot. Forget the pins. Just get a better dovetail mount.

For PCPs and light springers and all but the most violent springers and magnum powder burners I see no point at all for Weaver mounts. Dovetail is cleaner in appearance, lower, easier to keep clean, lighter, more versatile and you can put your rings anywhere you like. None of that is true for Weaver. Some argue that Weaver is more secure. But if you bang your scope or your gun hard enough to shake a good dovetail, your scope is ruined too, and maybe even your gun. So, what's the point of a Weaver?

I think the only reason Weavers are ever seen on any air rifle is for fashion fad purposes only. Trying to emulate military hardware for appearance purposes only. "Bad Ass" sells. Were that not true, we'd never have seen Weavers on our guns. Give me back my dovetail!!!
