Resealed & shooting strong - Swift Dawson Rapid

My Swift Rapid needed a reseal & I hadnt spoken to Ernie in years (though he recently started posting on AGN) so I sent it off to Martin of RAW for a once-over.

I figured, while he had it there I'd see what it would take to regulate it. Turns out the valve that Ernie used is super efficient & adding a regulator didn't yield the power or results I wanted. So he pulled the reg out, lubed it up, & replaced all the seals.

Interesting note: Martin said that all of the o-rings literally disintegrated when he took it apart. I don't shoot it much & always store it in a controlled environment. Turns out that o-rings have a short shelf life & they need to be replaced over time (even with light use).

Anyways here's a few pics from today

It was shooting pretty hot (over 900 fps) & I could tell that it needs to be detuned a bit. The trigger also needs to be readjusted, but overall it felt really good to shoot again. A few of the group's are pretty respectable considering I only used a bi-pod. I love the Splattetburst targets.

Looking forward to finding the sweet spot & shooting more... a lot more!

When these guns where first being made they must have been unique. I mean they are hand made so they will always be unique but they where around before the Impact and flex ect.
It really is a great looking gun and a credit to Swift and Dawson (is that a person or company?)
Guns like these where obviously inspiration for some of the mass produced guns we see today.

Appeciate seeing it Michael Thanks

This will be my 2nd summer in TX. Last year it got hot (like triple digits hot for 3 months) I've got a small generator & some Air mover fans that help ;)

It was a beautiful day to get reacquainted with my old friend.

All targets are 5 shot groups @ 50y. Turret adjustments made in between targets. Light gusts from left to right (less than a click).

The short barrel & tactical stock weren't designed for Benchrest shooting, but it did pretty well. I used a cheapy Bald Eagle rest in front & some rabbit ears in the rear.

Next outing will be with some knock-down & reactive targets.

The Dawson receiver was machine out of 7075 aluminum with the added Picatinny which at the time wasn’t available with the theoben receiver and was .750 th longer Which gave it a larger expansion chamber becoming able to produce more power , If the Dawson trigger cartridge was used it was also fully ball bearing and a lot crisper trigger assembly ,most of the internal parts were custom-made Out of better materials ,Michaels rifle that he posted With the LW polygon barrel was also all handcrafted and assembled unlike some of the more mass produced rifles at that time .
Best regard Swift
