replace Leshiy1 .177 for Leshiy2 .30 compact

Goodmorning and nice to meet you all. I am Michael from Netherlands and own a black Leshiy classic with two barrels (.177/250 and .25/350).
I like airguns to be small enough to fit in a backpack to take it to my friends informal 30 meter shooting range, so thats why I chose the Leshiy a few years ago.

The .25 with all its extensions and Sumo silencer is a huge impractical kit and consequently I never used it.

To my surprise Edgun released this limited edition smaller Leshiy2 with the following specs :

• Selected Alfa barrel accurate with slugs and pellets in 250mm / .25 (6.35mm) or .30 (7.62mm)
• Behemoth Picatinny 4 modules
• mEaZy gauge
• Vector Optics Frenzy-S · 1x17x24 MIC Red Dot Sight
• PeaZy with 470cc bottle
• 2 magazines optimized for Slugs (black for .25 - red for .30)
• 2 magazines optimized for Pellets (black for .25 - red for .30)
• x3 Black magazine holders
• Fitting for quick charging
• Standard regulator fixed at 160 BAR
• Jets installed: 0.4 + 0.4
• Micarta Grip
• Black inserts
• Black button

I am not concerned about the size of the rifle as it is designed to fit in a backpack.
As it costs 4000 euro's and can only be ordered online , I have no way to test and compare i... so this is my question to you :

I do have my doubts about the available calibers : .25 and .30
Given the fixed at 160 BAR regulator, 1.4 jets and Behemoth, what kind of noise should I expect?
What could be the reason "Francisco" decided to use large calibers over smaller ones like .177 and .22?
What range do you estimate the provided rifle to be accurate?

If you are used to the leshiy classic, the leshiy 2 is LOUD even with a good silencer. The action uses air to rotate the mag, and so when It exhausts, it’s loud near your face.
it’s also not going to be as accurate as your classic simply from the nature of it being semi auto, and firing directly from the magazine. If I was to do it again, I’d have kept my classic, and not traded it for the L2. I would still own a L2, but it would have been in addition to my classic, not in replacement.

I did this the other way around, buying an L2 first, then the classic.

They're both excellent. But, I'd sell the L2 first.

For me, the only thing they have in common is that they fold up.

I love both and each will be with me for a long time. They just do two different things in my opinion.

Don't expect much speed out of a 30 with a 250mm barrel. Edgun West says 740fps max on the website, so expect this to be the absolute best case scenario. You could easily be seeing closer to 700 in real-world shooting depending on ammo.

You may be fine with that. Just a heads up since a lot of people don't seem to fully understand the tradeoffs with the super short barrels for all airguns.

I have an LC with 350mm 177 and STO insert and there are several posts here describing its performance shooting Zan 10 grain slugs at 920fps out to 100y. For me, trying those slugs was one of those enlightening discoveries in life. I took it in to Utah Airguns for the guys there to shoot it and they also were amazed, including with the lack of noise. I equate it to opening a can of Coke. I’ve also shot several L2 configs and it’s no contest, IMHO. I’ve got 4 guns that I’ve tried to optimize for 177 slugs and it’s really challenging, requiring a very fast and consistent air pulse to drive that very low surface area. The LC does it without any tweaks to the guts - just a standard 120bar tune. The POI holds rock solid even after a week of inactivity and that’s also very rare. Moreover, to have a backpack gun that is so robust, so small, so reliable and so accurate for long range pesting (with the relative safety of only 19fpe) is very special to me. So much so that I got 2 more barrels and 2 of every other part that could fail, since at some point they won’t be available.

Thank you for the elaborate responses, so I'm in the company of a lot of Classic lovers here. The classic was once described to me as the ideal poachers rifle. This L2 edition continues that tradition.

I only consider the Leshiy2 compact because it is 70mm shorter and has a twist on/off silencer, the multishot option is not something I immediately need.
I have no use for a loud or large rifle. If I would enter that realm then i would go straight for the Huben.

I'd say it's a strange configuration built with the only purpose, to be as small as possible. For that, Francisco used the shortest available upper reservoir tube combined with the old style fixed regulator plenum (which is shorter than the newer plenum with the adjustable regulator) and a 250mm barrel, combined with a very aggressive jet combo to make up for the loss of velocity (at the expense of efficiency). Also, no lower air tube, so I guess you're supposed to pack that bottle with it and use it to recharge it every few shots? WTF?

Personally, I'd just go for the standard edition + the Behemoth. I think the standard edition Leshiy is already compact enough, going smaller than that is pointless. With the standard L2, you're getting an adjustable regulator, and with the 350mm barrel and no suppressor it still folds in half. More power, more shots, less noise.

I am sticking with my Classic for a while longer. I ordered an Edgun AKULA silencer which should make the overall length shorter.
Time comes..I might just take your advice Dorcula

A question. Suddenly the .177 barrel moves inward when shooting. I assumed it is held in place by the 2 screws on the side of the rifle.. But the barrel now pops into the hole of the internal muffler. Did I not pay attention when screwing it all back together and perhaps lost a part? Then what part would that be?

developments.... conclusion : confirmed that it is too big for my use..so I sold the .25 barrel, sumo and shroud on local market,

Because I prefer a short .177 / 250 mm barrel I added the Edgun Akula , today i tested it outside and its really quiet..perfect !

notice the added canted iron sights, i might just ditch the scope

And to contradict myself on all the above I just bought two Leshi2 .30's to see if it is any good for me where the .177 says "pt" the somewhat silenced MG42 lookalike L2 barks a loud "KABATS!"
