Repeated Accurate ( sort of compact) Adjustable Scope

I am graduating from hold over/under to an adjustable scope. 4X12 is enough power. But I use bullpup style air rifles and would like it to be semi-compact. I don't need 5 lbs sitting on top of the mounts. I have tried it with some of the compact scopes I use now but the internal system for adjustment varies when changing from one range to another. I think the scopes work fine for establishing a good zero but then changing to a longer range and back results in some fairly large errors. If possible I would like to keep the price in the $200 range. Maybe that's not possible or hopefully others have found something that works well for them. Thank You for any suggestions.

That is asking allot from a $200 scope. Most scopes in that price range are missing something and repeatability in dialing the turrets is one of their common deficiencies.

I have found the Discovery VT3 and Vector Optics Veyron 3x12x44 scopes to be just OK in this arena although you probly need to spend more, like double, to do better. Still even with these I still still use holdover most of the time as, for the price, I really don't expect them to be that durable in the arena.

I like the Veyron best but it has a very thin reticle only good at 6 or 8+ magnification. Any less and it is difficult to see. So not great for pesting up close in low light areas.

I also like the second focal plane units in each of these scopes best. So, the Discovery ends up at a 4x16x44.

In my many years of shooting airguns and competing for over 20 years in field target, the worst place to cut corners is in the scope!! I learned a long time back that good glass is even more important than a good gun. I went thru a dozen cheaper scopes only to realize I could have saved alot of dollars if I had bought good scopes to start. Once I established myself as a competitor and experienced gunsmith, I normally spent way more for scopes than on the rifles they sat on. To this day, all scopes are Leupold, expensive yes, but never returned on for a problem! I click my turets for ranges everytime I shoot, been doing that for over 25 years on my scopes with O issues. That will never happen on a cheap scope !!!!
