Tuning Removing a carbon fiber sleeve from 500 mm impact

Hi I have a sleeve in my 22 500 mm barrel it fits the outside of the impact barrel but doesn't fit the actual barrel tight at all so I want to remove it and put it in my 30 cal 500 mm kit I have a new tighter fitting one for the 22 kit what is best way to get it out with out wrecking it

It should fit the 30 cal without a problem

If it is not glued in you can just find socket or dowel that fits inside the barrel, think I used a deep well 8mm 1/4 drive socket, and tap it out until you can get hold of it and pull it the rest of the way out.

If it is glued in you will need to heat it to the temp the glue will melt then push it out in the same way. 

But, if you glued it, you may be better off just purchasing replacement parts from FX and gluing in your .22 liner to tighten things up. That way you will have two usable barrels.

Its not glued have to split the barrel at transfer port side just use some heat or what do you mean I was thinking just hook it with a pick but otherwise I suppose it will have to be split like you would do for caliber change kit ?

Yup, Guess I wasn't think of that, brain damage again, but If you can't get it out that is what needs to be done. Yes, like a caliber change. If you put the barrel in a drill and spin it you can apply the heat evenly and things will go smoother.

Now that I think of it you can hot glue a dowel into the sleeve and it should pull out. Hot glue can usually be removed.

Or if a pain to pull out the barrel just swap out everything but the barrel and sleeve with the .30 parts meaning the liner, steel retainer, brass port, steel retainer and shroud. Then use the old .30 barrel for the .22 the barrel itself is the same for both the 22 and the .30, everything else is different unless you are talking m3 then the shroud is interchangeable if you use the correct insert.

Just make sure in the end everything is swapped over correctly as you don't want a .30 pellet to stop at the incorrect shroud with the .22 exit to the moderator.

Some one told me only difference between the shrouds were the opening on the end of it but it would screw on I have a shroud for 22 and 25 but not the 30 they are all 500 mm if that is the only difference I'll open up the end on the 25 shroud so I can use it on both or see what fx says if they can sell me just a 30 cal 500 mm shroud my 22 and 25 both have huma transfer port and probe but 30 doesn't yet

If they sell you just the shroud i would suspect it would be the updated version with replacable insert at the end. Or just buy the tuner barrel as they have the inserts. With all the swaping i probably would push a pellet thru to make sure every thing is is kosher.

Tuner won't fit I switched over to 480 cc tank from the 300 cc fx tank also had to go to a different moderator for clearance I'll probably either open up 22 or the 25 end my moderator for the 25 is a 25 to 30 cal so I'll be swapping that back and forth as well not to big of a deal I'll just get clearance measurements from the moderator and open it up on my lathe should be easy enough unless a fx shroud is fairly cheap

Thats good you have access to lathe. I would probably make it a little bit bigger to prevent possible clipping.
