I have a 24” AF barrel in .25 that I would like to remove the choke from. Does anyone know how short I would need to cut it to fully remove the choke? I’d be getting it re-crowned and threaded at the same time.
What ive seen done to find where the choke is, is to put a pellet and push it with a rod and whetever you feel more resistance thats where the choke is at, im not sure bout any other methods tho so hope it helps
Thats what ya do ... Generally choke will be found in the last 1" to 1 1/4"
OR .... Simply counter bore the muzzle to a depth that clears out the choke, clean up the crown and you still retain the same OAL along with the muzzle threading.
If it were mine I would REAM it out at 5/16" ( .312" ) which would make cleaning up the crown easy peezy .... DONE !
