This is where the fun started for me. I can't believe my current gun cost three times this ole gem. Marauder .22 busting some squirrels. Oldie but fun. Scope was an old weaver 22 scope with fixed 4x, but it was still accurate as was the Marauder.
I'm with you there John. If I had the time and skills to do what you've done I might have a decent piggy bank."JohnL57"I'm not sure I'm going to take the next step.... Of course, "never say never", lol!
John
Would you mind sharing details on how you tuned your Marauder?"JohnL57"I'm not sure I'm going to take the next step-my .22 Marauder is detuned for a 2100 psi fill making it very scuba tank friendly and at 20 FPE it's a tack driver out to 65-75 yards. I am balking at the cost of a CF tank and higher end gun. Of course, "never say never", lol!

I just bought a new .22 Marauder for hunting and fill with a hand pump. A lower pressure setup would be ideal.
Thanks

John, thanks very much for this info. I do have a crony that has already been knicked by a pellet."JohnL57"

I bought the gun already set up that way so I don't really know what was done. It shoots so well I am not going to change anything even to record the settings. Having said that, you adjust fill pressure by reducing hammer energy. You can reduce hammer spring tension and/or the length of the hammer stroke. There's a lot of tuning info out there-here's a good forum dedicated to the Marauder.

Bear in mind tuning takes lots of time, air pellets and patience! You will need a chronograph. Before you start, make sure you record the original settings so you can get it back to stock if you need to! This video explains a little of how the adjustments function.

A word to the wise-when chronographing take care not to shoot the chronograph! It's easier to do than you might think, I was just at a friend's trying out his brand new chronograph. I took several shots, then he sat down and promptly killed his just out of the box unit with his first shot!

Good to hear that! Glad it's got a good home."airborne"Plinker it is still shooting great... It is a keeper
One of these days we are going to find out we are long lost cousins. I wondered why Thurmond was carved on the stock(joking)!"T3PRanch"Plink,
That .22 is EXACTLY the same as the one I shot as a kid that my Dad shot also as a kid.
Now I shoot my Great Uncles Pump Winchester .22 that was given to him by my Great Grand Dad.

I can't wait to get home a share my knife pics now!"sharroff"Plinker,
Very nice gun! I'd post the picture of my first .22 LR (a Winchester Model 69) and my favorite .22 LR (Winchester 52B) but they are at the other house (where I can use them).
I'm also a fan of quality knives! Here is my favorite pocket knife, belt knife, and my 'when all heck breaks loose' knife
