Regulator life span

The one and only regulated rifle I have the regulator lasted just about 10 years. It's in an AA 400 carbine 22. I rebuild it this year.
only needed o-rings. I don't even remember what kind of reg it is...but it's been a good one thats for sure. Rest of my rifles I dont bother with a regulator. To me as a hunter I don't think it's needed. If I shot field target or something like that...yep I would regulate every pcp I own.

I ask because of shot count. I’m not a hunter at least with Airguns cause it’s not legal in Montana. But my thing is I have nowhere to fill my scba up anymore so I’m wondering if a regulated rifle that gets way more shots would be worth it to me as I’ll be having to pump by hand. Good to know that it’s myth. 10 years is a long while. Was it easy to do by yourself?

PCP, and all airguns for that matter, require periodic rebuilds. That's a given. You simply add the reg to the rebuild. No big deal. They're just o'rings and spring washers.

Regulated or unregulated? Doesn't matter if you have your own tank and compressor.

I was foolish one day about a year ago and dropped $120 for an expired carbon fiber tank from a member of this forum. Thought I'd made a good deal. I took it to the nearest dive shop to have it looked at by a professional. On my way out the door he handed me what appeared to be a brand spanking new one for FREE. Yes, for FREE. Yes, it was expired too. Now I know that spending $120 for a carbon fiber tank is not a good deal at all. I've got two 60 minute tanks that will outlive me. I've also got two Shoebox compressors; one to run and another ready to go the minute an o'ring fails. I've got less money in 2 tanks, complete with fill stations, and two compressors for less than the cost of my cheapest PCP.

Tanks are free. Compressors are cheap. Spend your money on good GUNS.

My problem is I haven’t a place to fill my scba anymore the fire department stopped after I told them one day why I was filling my tank every other day. Even though it was 5 a fill and in Montana who the hell uses a scba... compressors. Other wise I’d try and keep my talondor instead of selling. But if I have to go hand pump route it seems a regulated to get me more shots would seem more fit. I wanna stay in airgunning it’s just being a hurdle right now and I just don’t know enough

in my case no. I did not gain more shots on a fill. Just flattened the shot curve. Same fpe as from factory. I'm sure if it was detuned I would get more shots on a fill. And have a nice flat curve.
Sounds like to me it's time to invest in a compressor. I use to go to a scuba shop. Over an hour drive. Good ol feller but he retired and that was that. No one took it over. Had my PCP rifles thursty for air longing to be shot. I bought a hand pump. Worked out ok as long as I was "just" hunting. Pinky in the back yard. Forget it! Didn't take long to get over that crap!! 
Invested in the carrette (alpha 90) and never looked back. 
As I read in a thread the other day.."buy once, cry once" just do what ya need to do and buy a compressor and look forward to buying PCP after PCP after PCP.
