Reg Pressure?

Higher by 3-5%. You can hear the gun sound better as you turn it down from being over hammered. A gun that sounds better is generally happier. This method gives you tuning room up and down to find where your gun performs best across a full tank of air. I do have one gun and it’s performing really well at 98% but there are other factors involved.

I'm no expert, but here is what has worked well for me. The goal is to achieve not just a certain velocity, but also to have a well balanced tune. This enhances sound as well as shot count. I try to end up at a reg set point that allows a little over my goal, with a maximum hammer tension. Then I reduce the HST to give me 95-97% of that maximum. So, if my goal is 880 fps, the hammer/reg combination will produce something in the 910-920 range, at the max HST.

If you are setting up the gun for a single pellet and at a certain velocity, do you set the pressure to the exact pressure that gets you that velocity or higher? If higher, by what amount?
I usually set my hammer spring close to minimum. Then adjust reg pressure til I'm within 75-100 fps of my goal. Then I play with hammer spring. That's a starting point for me in most guns. But not all guns are the same. Some easier to adjust reg or hammer. Some take more care..
