Reflex / Red Dot on R7?

So, I happen to have a Burris Fast Fire II relfex sight (4 MOA dot) sitting around that I took off a PB I sold. And I now happen to have an R7 that doesn't have optics.

Obviously, I will have to get an adapter to get it mounted to the dovetail. But has anyone done this and what level of accuracy can you really achieve at say 20 yds?

If I can achieve minute of squirrel head, I'll be happy. Just seeing anticipated results before I possibly waste time and money on it.

I cannot speak to the sights that you're talking about, but, if your R7 is in good condition and you've got the right ammo for it, it should print 1/4" groups at 20 yards.

How about minute of squirrel eyeball!!! Daylight limits mine because of washout to about 20 yards but it is a cheap Chinese POS. Still it is intended for dusk or night time rat hunts. Swap it on my Bantam with QD mounts on it and my scope. Love how fast and light it makes the gun handle. You'll get a kick out of using it for those close fast action shots. It is really very accurate just shoot it enough to get used to it. Let us know how you do. Have fun. Nick

I use a Burris FF 3 in speed-plates competitions, and it's a great sight. Don't expect much better groups from a a rest than the dot covers; exception being when/if you can center the dot in a geometric aiming-spot (a squirrel head may qualify). Regardless, at ranges you'll hunt squirrel with an R7 the dot will be precise enough for excellent work.

In my opinion non-magnifying red-dot sights are an excellent, THE BEST choice for offhand shooting, and you've got a good one.

These five-shot groups are as I was sighting in; each successive group closer to centered.
