Refinishing Weihrauch synthetic stock?

Wondering if anyone has ever tried to strip and refinish one. I bought a used HW100BP a while back and everything except the stock looks great. Stock looks pretty bad, lots of scratches. It's got a thin, kinda rubbery type finish. Feels great, but really fragile.

Maybe one of them automotive plastic scratch removers ? I doubt any helps the fragile part of things.

I guess a guy got 3 options. that stuff and hope, replacement syn or wood stock , or a custom stock.

Maybe 4 ... A quality plastic spray paint.

Buy a nice walnut stock and use the synthetic stock for woods walking

I appreciate the responses.
I really don't want to buy a new stock. I'll leave it as is if refinishing isn't an option. Just hoped someone might have refinished one and could share their wisdom.

A friend of mine is in the automotive industry and deals with plastic-polyurethane parts. he does plastic welding and repairs plastic - synthetic materials. He uses a heat gun and an hand anvil to smooth out scratches and gouges in plastic. It also helps with discolored or faded stuff . I don't know about your stock material, but It might help.

You could paint it or apply a wrap.

I’ve brought faded plastic on a KLR back to life with heat gun method. Probably not for damage and deep scratches but for looks certainly.

I like the wrap idea…

The stock is rubberized wood, it's not really synthetic, I've never tried to remove any scratches from mine, but you might try a heat gun on low setting or steam

Yeah, I don't think paint would adhere to the existing finish for any length of time. Don't know if a wrap would or not.
