I have now got the st-x installed and working well. It was a little tricky to get the liner back close enough to the transfer port. It is now 0.3mm from the transfer port which it needs to be for the pellet to be fully seated within the liner.
Since I started the barrel I have also installed a Heliboard board in the RedWolf which has give more options for matching power to various projectiles.
I was going to start with the pellet line and shoot some lighter pellets and then try the slug liner but I couldn’t help myself and put the slug liner in. This is a new liner that hasn’t had a slug through it.
I had 2 NSA slugs to try 23g .218 and 26g .217. The 23g didn’t group all that well at a variety of speeds The 26g on power setting 11 shot at 940fps (970fps on 12) and were accurate It was quite windy but they still managed group around 1 inch I also had a sample pack of the H&N slugs and gave the heaviest 30g slugs a go On power settings 12 these shot at 940fps and were also accurate maybe a little better than the nsa 26g I did notice the H&N slugs were quite a lot tighter to load
I’m very happy with the way it shot the heavier slugs and impressed with the Heliboard and the power it’s producing to push these heavier slugs along
I’ll get some more photos of the gun and some groups as soon as I get some time and hopefully some better weather
I tried shooting pellets today and found a problem. Although the pellets are just within the liner they aren’t in far enough. I was getting terrible accuracy until I started seating the pellets carefully with a small Allen key. I could feel by the initial resistance they needed to be seated further within the liner. Once I shot the seated pellets accuracy was spot on. The slugs don’t have the same cavity so they were getting pushed a few mm further into the liner.
When the probe is fully retracted it travels back several mm within the housing. If I could lengthen it as much as I can so it still fully retracts (to enable the magazines to work I think it will overcome the problem.
Just did a check on how far the FX set up seats the pellet within the liner and there is only a bee’s dick in it. The RedWolf is seating the pellet dead flush but not quite seating the skirt of the pellet. This is a pic of where the pellet ends up in the FX set up. I measured it and it is less than 1mm

It’s annoying but I think if I add 1mm to the RedWolf probe it should do the job. This pellet is an 18g Jsb. I’d better measure the cavity on 25g and some others!
I’m very happy with the way this has worked out lengthening the probe has created no issues Using the magazine you wouldn’t know it’s any different
I can’t believe how accurate the Redesigned Monsters are shooting through the slug liner I have a mate who has shot the gun before He’s very experienced and not easy to impress. I couldn’t get the gun away from him!
The guy that actually made these pieces and put it together (Robbie) has been very patient and incredibly particular through the whole process Ive been lucky to find someone willing to take it on
Next project will be a 700mm barrel and I have a great idea as to how I’ll go about doing this. Here is a hint
i am goi to do something very similar, fitting an x twist to a Theoben rapid. I will use the fx continuum type arrangement for location of the liner, then a carbon shroud over the lot.
when my impact finally arrives, I will modify that too, I will be able to swap liner lengths without the expense of an outer sleeve.
