Clearly not.
They (unfortunately) use different pieces of wood. Imagine if tailors would use that criteria to make suits. Every one on the street would look like a clown.

My RW is also walnut, and while I don't think adjustable comb piece is a cutout from the same piece of wood, it appears to be the same type and with the same stain. I believe that the wood in your comb is either a different species, or was subject to a different stain. I don't know why they don't rough finish the stock, then cut out the comb piece and fit the hardware, which is the traditional technique. The top of the comb is essentially the same height as the action housing, so the wood is there to do it; doesn't make sense to me.

For the laminates, they cut it out of the same piece of wood. I really don't know why they wouldn't do the same for the walnut versions. Unless I got a sucker's deal, I wouldn't buy that gun just based on the off grain/stain of the comb. That's just me personally.

I have found the real world pellet for this rifle. This pellet deals really well with the wind. The rifle keeps the accuracy on windy conditions:

That doesn't seem to be a problem with other makers of adjustable comb stocks. Yes, the saw removes some wood, but it's barely noticeable with the continuity of the grain. And the optimum cheek position is almost never with the comb fully down, so it's a generally moot point.

I have an 2011 mfg dated Air Wolf MCT and never a hiccup with the electronics. Daystate has it nailed.

Today I walkup early.
There was no wind at all. Perfect conditions to see the performance of the rifle.
I made about 40 shots at different distances, from 25 yards to 88 yards.
I am shooting the Red Wolf with the H&N Baracudas.
Believe me, the accuracy of this thing is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT !!!
And is beautiful. A pleasure to shoot with. No difficult to control at all.

That is a beautiful rifle! There is just something about a wood stock in a non-bullpup configuration that checks all the boxes for me. I'm fairly new to air rifles and considering my first high end PCP, and while I keep thinking I should buy a bullpup, as I see them dominate the lines at the benchrest competitions, which interest me the most, I keep coming back to form over function. I keep thinking Crown or Red Wolf over an Impact or other high end bullpup. I want the best of both worlds...lol

At the end you will buy both, the clasic one and the bullpup.
So don't worry at all. For the moment you just have to decide which one is better to buy first.

you said "new to me " so the comb could be an addon by former owner , maybe custom to fit ? BTW i like it two tone .
