Page 7 of my Redwolf owners manual discusses how to use programming mode, however the method of going into programming mode and ending programming mode is in conflict with several well known reviewers on YouTube. The manual says you use the safety switch to initiate and complete the process while reviewers say you open the breech and close the breech to execute commands?

I don’t know. I think that I only turned mine on once or twice before I set it aside and waited for a heliboard to arrive.
What works for you? If you end the programming change/command with the safety switch, does it save your changes?
Also, it seems as if I recall a programming video whereas there was a confirmation clunk after initiating a programming command. Cannot recall if the sound was after closing the lever or switching the safety switch to safe. Does yours do that?

I appreciate the input but I really need an absolute correct answer rather than a guess. @AOA Airguns of Arizona
As I’ve already had a battery issue I want to avoid any user error

Have you tried it, mine is older, so you open the breech. You cannot hurt it, just by changing settings. Might be a new method on the newer ones. Personally prefer opening the breach, no chance of firing the gun. Let us know.

WTF. I just tried mine using the safety, and it also works to change programming. The manual is correct. I will not use that method, but it does work As well. First I have heard of it.

So if I understand correctly - both methods work on your Redwolf? Opening breech OR using safety switch to begin and end programming mode?

Yes I’m aware of the clunk when you close the safety switch per manual which is pretty cool - but you also hear it when closing the breech at the end of programming.

Opening the bolt or toggling the safety operate the same switch internally. Either operation will give the same result. Same with turning it on after timeout. When you have the cover off to hook up the programmer, check it to see what I'm talking about. You can easily see that either operation toggles the same switch.

I am glad to hear that the battery solved the issue. When it comes to
the two methods, they both work because they are essentially doing the
same thing. The rifle has a microswitch, called the bolt switch, which
essentially "cocks" the gun, or tells the board the gun is ready to
fire. When you hold the bolt open it pushes a pin onto the microswitch
and keeps it held down, interestingly, the safety functions in the same
way, pushing a pin onto that microswitch and holding it down, which
makes the rifle unable to fire. To enter the programming mode, both the
trigger switch and the bolt switch need to be held down, so both of the
methods do the same thing and both will work. Regarding the battery, I
recommend taking it out and charging it about once a month regardless of
how much you shoot. The charger that comes with the gun is a balance
charger and will keep the 3 cells in the battery in balance.
