red dot ?

Hello I had an Aimpoint on a Hatsan 130 30 cal before I sold the gun with no issues. I also had a Bsa or Truglo red dot (just don't remember with one) on a Diana 52 before selling that as well with no issues either. If i was to put a red dot on a springer again I would go with a Vortex when they go on sale the can be found for around $110 to 120. The nice thing about the Vortex is no questions ask warranty. Several friend have used it and have not had an issue just send in the old non working item an a new one was sent back. One other thing is go with the smallest dot size you can get (usually 2 moa). At 25 yds the dot will cover 1/2 inch area with a 2 moa and 1 1/4 inch area with a 5 moa dot . Hope this helps Eric.

Agreed. While I'm not sure about the cheaper red dot sights, the better to very good ones, will have no problems. They are made to be used on various firearms which have much more in the way of "G" forces put on them, than any...springer, be it in "any" direction.

If you watch some of the YouTube, "torture tested" red dot or prism sights, the damaging pounding some of these guys do to them, and they still continue to not only light up...but also to hold a good "zero" point of aim.

Holosun (one of the best for a reasonable cost), Vortex, Sig Sauer, Burris. Then you get into the expensive ones !

I have at least one of each of the above brands and can vouch for them all (mostly Holosun). I also have some of the expensive brands. I have them on fire arms, PCP's, and yeah, springers.

can a red dot sight be used on a springer ?

Thanks ALL

I like the idea of sitting the target on top of the dot , like iron sights .

DOH my bad.
This is slightly off topic but have you look through a red dot before because some people have astigmatism of the eyes which make the red dot blurry. I bought a red dot without knowing I have astigmatism and the blurriness of the red dot makes it worthless to use.

You can sometimes resolve this issue by turning the red dot intensity down, or mounting it further forward, i.e. further away from your eye.

I have an astigmatism, and also have a bunch of red and green dot sights, along with prism and holographic (EOTech) sights . I've tried most all of the variations to find what works best...for me.

1. Green seems to be easier on bad eyes. A slightly cleaner dot, to me anyway.
2. ALWAYS turn the brightness intensity down, way down, This still won't make the dot perfectly round, but it's be so close, that you'll never be able to tell is isn't. The dot should JUST (barely)...be visible over the target.
3. I've tried the close up mounting, and the farther out on the rail mounting. I MUCH prefer the close up mounting...despite the experts recommendations all over YouTube.
Do what feels best to...you!

Another sight that works well, is the Meprolight, M21. It doesn't us batteries. It uses ambient light to light the reticle. Round, delta (solid triangle), bullseye. I have two and like them. The dot, or lines are very crisp, but again aren't super bright, but plenty bright to see clearly. Both of mine are the Delta reticle.

Also, if you can get past the cost, the holographic (EOTech) sights work well. They have a "very", clean, round dot. BUT...you need to understand that the "colored" portion, is like painting a wall, like dabbing a sponge (lightly coated with paint) on a wall. It doesn't provide a "solid" color. BUT (again !), you should not be looking at the recital, you should be looking at the target..!
Once you get past the uneven coloring, they are very nice sights. Must be a reason the military uses them !
