Red Dot for Field Target ??

I could be wrong, but I thought that I read in the FT rules that you can use Red dot sights in competition. I tried to find some articles on the pros and cons of using dot sights, but so far nothing. Anybody tried them? If so what kind?

I don’t think, correction, I know, you will not be successful shooting FT with a red dot.

No, nope, nada, just the wrong choice for this game. You could try it of course but you'll probably only get a 10-20% hit ratio, if that. Part of that is the paint gets shot off the KZ, and surrounding it on the face plate in the direction the wind is blowing so your assumption of the where the KZ is will be wrong.

Though it'd be fun for me to try once for the heck of it. No rule against using a spotting scope see where the KZ is and dialing elevation in the RD.

Thanks for the advise, probably why I didn’t see a lot of photos of RD when viewing videos of FT competition.

No magnification is BAD

No reticle of FINE resolution is BAD

Not a "TYPE" of sighting system that would work in the FT game ....
