Red dot for a Leshiy???t on

Hopefully i put this thread in the right place.

Good evening all

I recently purchased a Leshiy. Love the gun. I am looking at it, and thinking to put a red dot on it. Reasons range from sheer look to maintaining compact size for carrying in backpac to likely not shoot past 50 yards with it and my "amazing" aim (blahahaha). Does anyone use a red dot on their airgun / Leshiy and if so, how has been your experience? I am looking at Holosun with Gold Dot model.

Thank you

Gabe

I also tried to use a red dot on my leshiy. For shots inside 25 yards it was ok. However, I felt like I had a lot of pigeons fly away likely due to subpar shot placement. I have since switched to a 3-9 scope and I prefer it. I can get more accurate shots on target plus reach out to 50 yards now. I have a lot less pigeons fly off now. You’ll soon realize the leshiy has more range than probably expected, I would recommend just getting a compact scope for your set up.

I have used my EOTech 3-4  with my EOTech G=33 3x magnifier on my EDgun , Leshiy ,lelya 2.0 . and on my R-5m , I have to say I really like the eotech 3-4 with the magnifier , as I can have 4 to 6 hold points plus with the magnifier I can reach out much farther , then say with just the 2moa dot in my Aimpoint H-2

I would not go with 2 moa only , but add a magnifier if you plan on reaching out a bit and to hold . While the leshiy isnt a hi power Hi BC platform , just a single dot limits you to holding off for wind and different distances , will you be shooting paper or hunting .which is why the EOTech EXPS 3-4 is perfect , However I use these on my powder burners too ,

They both have advantages , the Aimpoint I have has 50.000 hr battery life so , for self protection you leave it on and it stays on over a yr , Now the EOTech on other hand has 4 to 8 hr on then it shuts off to save battery life , but that one has only like 800 to 1200 hrs for battery life , which is alot seeing my ATN thermal wears out a set of batteries every 4 to 6 hrs of continuous use , Both units I got are Reliable and both battle optics , and they just dont mess up , and are very rugged , If I put one on a gun for protection I dont want to skimp on quality , I have went threw many cheap ones and they are just horrible to see threw and the illumination is horrible and bleeds and washes out , Th eotech has like hundreds of tiny LEDS which is very sharp when adjusted properly , both units keep poi if you bang them wet them . Hope this helps , buy once cry once or buy used better quality is best

Thank you for all that info. I looked it up. And it is a sweet setup for sure. But sadly a Lelya 2.0 killed off my budget for the month. Hopefully she will show up Monday with a Dedal. But I am putting the Dédal on the Lelya the Leshiy still needs something quality and compact. Maybe next month if I save enough.

thank you everyone for your help

Wow, solid advice from everyone. I use a vortex viper red dot. It’s pretty cheap, sometimes midway or swfa has sales, maybe a vortex sparc. I dunno though, I think I would rather have a leshiy set up with good rings and a budget scope than a red dot. My reasoning is the accuracy potential is too great to limit the leshiy to what my eye sight is. I mean, I,m trying to take a humane shot on squirrels, man I hate when they squirm away, so head shot or lung shot. I do use the viper red dot on a hw 44 with great results for just ambushing a really close up squirrel like 15-30 yds most of the time. Well, now the viper is on a hw45 springer pistol shooting polymags. Why? Because once again the hw44 accuracy potential was too great too limit it with a red dot. But a quality red dot is tits.

Hahahahhaha

ok ok. I think I got the message:)

compact scope it is.

any preference? I have a bug buster on the Hatsan that is laying around. It’s.... meeeh ok? Anything better compact ? I would like good eye relief on it. Keep the scope a bit to the front of the Leshiy ???

In case you want to read more about the holographic option, AGN user Towle has commented on his use of an Eotech on his Leshiy a couple of times at least. Here is a link to one of his posts. You can search his profile from there.

Trying an Eotech with magnifier is still something I'd like to try on my Leshiy. I don't believe the magnifiers have very much eye relief, however.

As far as compact scopes, I have a Dedal on mine and it's a great choice. Maybe not the perfect scope for me but I'll gladly keep using it until I find something better.

OK here is how and why i like eotech over an optic for certain types of hunting , If I have alot of fast action I can use the eotech and hit targets like in 1/2 the time with any scope even a 1x , now combined with the magnifier it is amazing for fast shooting of targets ,

as for what I would do if I had only 1 optic for say leshiy red dot or scope , Id get a scope , but I use my optics on varous platforms , ok here is the unit on my lelya and the leshiy with aimpoint next to the thermal , the aimpoint is very light like 5 ounces with mount , where as the eotech with magnifier is pretty heavy as it is a combat unit made to handle the roughest conditions .I have hit many squirrels out to 75 yards as accurate as a scope , the aimpoint is good too , both good ,

here is hold for say a .556

so looking at the dot spacing you can use them to creat your hold points and zero for any weapon system of this is moa now for mils this is your holds

1.6 MIL
3.4 MIL
4.9 MIL

Yeah a bug buster will work but lacking a bit.

Sounds like you want a wide FOV and a low powered scope. I bought a Athlon Helos 1-4.5x24 that has adjustable parallax with side wheel down to 10Y. It's also illuminated but not quite daylight bright, though bright enough on cloudy days. SFP so the reticle stays large. Check out the reticle on their website, it's a nice one! 1/2" dot at 100Y for precision and large circle for quick shot.

My go-to cheap scope is the Athlon Talos BTR 4-14x44. I usually have one in the safe for a backup in case a new rifle comes home.

I did for a bit but soon realized my vision sucks. I did a Cheep-0 off amazon to see if I’d like it. I need a magnifer

I used a Bushnell trs25 for a while and if yuo used minimal illumination oit was pretty good at closer ranges.

My preference is a leupold 3x9 efr very light but a bit pricy.

For alot less you could get a leupold compact 22 scope

Theses scopes are well under a pound usually 10 to 12 oz. region and a great warranty ,kelly
