Around where I live in Washington, it's mostly greys, but they can get really fat and dig huge burrows and holes in the lawn. Not to mention the carnage the big ones can do to siding, or the house if they get in the attic? They did thousands of dollars of damage to my siding, trying to get into the house years ago. After replacing all that siding, I'm officially at war with those varmints!
One of the turning points for me, was back in 2008/2009, around the time that the first invaders began appearing out of nowhere, in droves! Before this, Squirrels were never seen in my neighborhood, only in parks or mountains. I was fine with that.
One summer night, early in the A.M. like 2 or 3, I had the bedroom window open on 2nd floor of the house. Was conked out after a hard day of work.
Woke up to loud chattering, scraping, and clawing noises, literally about a couple feet from my face! A squirrel had climbed up vertically on the house, and positioned itself smack dab in the middle of the wide-open window, on the screen. It was trying to chew and claw through the screen. I never got that one, at least not that night.
That greys days are numbered
