Recoil pads / butt plates

Hello all, I am new to air rifle shooting and have purchased a AA S400 superlight. I want to reduce the size of the factory recoil pad / butt plate because I am finding that reaching the trigger is just a little bit to long. Although I can find plenty of adjustable recoil pads on line I cannot seem to find one that is thinner than factory spec.

Any Ideas who might supply? Factory thickness is 1.5cm or 3/4 inch and I am looking for half the amount.

Hi Rob. If you have a little skill and a table saw, and a bench sander, it's pretty easy to shorten your LOP. I do it all the time for my customers, and on my own rifles.

Try watching the video from "Midway USA" website. The owner does a nice job of explaining how to do it. And you don't have to do any refinishing on your stock, other than simply cutting off a portion of the stock. I buy most of my butt & recoil pads from Midway as well.

Good luck

Scott

Under $5.00 from Ebay. This way you can put the original "recoil" pad back on when you sell with no alteration to the gun stock. Just sand/file the plate to the contour of your original.

well without know how handy you are, I would suggest taking the factory pad off and replacing it with one made up of a backing plate of 1/4 aluminum and top that with a piece of 1/8-1/4 inch urethane material and after looking at the rifle stock that would give you that 1/2 inch you're looking for

you do not have the space to cut that stock on a table saw

just make a small something to protect the wood on the end of the rifle and in this case function will be more important then looks

if I can help email me

Many thanks to all the advice. I have ordered a 1/2 butt pad from MidwayUSA that is grid to fit. I do not want to cut the stock as I would like the option to sell the gun in the future if my hobby grows into advance HFT, Bench rest speed or FT. As I am new I have not figure out what I might like do and bought a rifle that is at least capable of doing 2 out of 3 and may it could do FT if I participate in a beginners round.
