Rear Aperture Sight for a Beeman R1?

Rear Aperture Sight for a Beeman R1.

Need one. Can't use the OEM Patridge rear sight for squat any more, and have Apertures on all my iron sighted rifles.

...except the Beeman R1.

Currently have a scope on it... that a relative was nice enough to borrow and break.

So I figured it's a good time to go back to irons, as my boys are also getting big enough to cock and shoot it.

TIA.

I just put a peep sight on my R7 and like it. I also got a 0.05” aperature too, that makes it easier for me to shoot tighter groups.

Thanks CR.

Looks pretty slick.

Noticed that they offer an FP-AG sans knobs.

As I plan to set it and leave it, that might be even better.

RE: the 0.050 Aperture.

Is that bigger or smaller than OEM?

EDIT: Just read that OEM is .093"

Looking for a < 2"@25 yards field rifle.

Well...

Received and mounted the FP-AG rear Aperture sight on the R1.

The instructions were poor.

You need to:
- Set the dovetail clamp lightly with the allen set screws.
- Then lightly set the top screw.
- Then torque the allen set screws.
- Then torque the top screw.

If you follow the instructions, the mount base will flex and bend, leaving a gap between the clamping jaw and the base.

Other than that, I set the base just ahead (~ 1/16") of the safety, so that the safety was centered b/t the sight base and the rear of the receiver.

Safety operation is unencumbered,

The stock aperture's optics work great, with plenty of field of view.

Have a minor issue with the rifle, however.

This R1 is a carbine, and has a few degrees of up angle on the Bbl/chamber block.

So, with the sight run all the way down, hard against the base (which is good), the rifle shoots ~ 2.25" high at 20 yds with the std. front sight, and the Benjamin CYL pellets I am currently shooting.

What this gives is a hold of just a hair over half way between the top of the post and the top (inside) of the ring.

I don't know if the alpha can be corrected, and it didn't seem to concern the Air-rifle Ferrari mechanic that overhauled it not too long ago.

The Benjamin CYL pellets are shooting ~ an inch at that range, but have a pile of JSB Diabolo Exact on the way.

Suffice to say, the rear Aperture sight is awesome. Should make the R1 a great field carbine again.
