Went out to my groundhog spot at the local driving range this morning after church and before they opened for buisness. This was the first outing with the .25 cal streamline I got a chance to stretch her legs a little at various ranges on pest.
Gun: .25 Streamline laminate
Scope: Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50
Pellets: Jsb 25.39gr at 912 FPS
The first one was at 55 yards quartered away from me so I took a heart/lung shot. The shot hit its mark with a loud thwack, from which he leapt into the air and ran into his hole. I was not able to recover this one.
The second was my longest elimination with my streamline thus far. He was at 80 yards facing directly at me. I was able to use my shooting sticks to get a solid position for the shot and he dropped right in place. A friend that went with me was impressed by the accuracy and power of these PCP rifles after witnessing that shot. I credit this mainly to strelok, because without it I wouldn't know the correct holdover.
The last one was the biggest of the three. This guy had moved into the home under the owners shed I made vacant on another outing. He was facing away at 45 yards and we could not get him to turn to look at us by making noises. The most he would do is raise his head a little. After seeing the first one run back into its hole after be hit, I decided to place a shot at the base of this ones skull. The pellet found its mark, and instant death without a single twitch.
We waited for 20 minutes without seeing another groundhog, so the rest will have to wait for another day.
I wished the sideshot wasn't so expensive, as I would like to get some video of these outings, but there are other things I need to purchase first.
Anyway the owner has helped me with my golf swing a lot, so it was nice to be able to help him out in a way.
