Reactionary Targets

I have set up an air gun range at our Izaak Walton clubhouse. I am looking for targets that indicate a hit and are re-useable. We shoot from 3 yards out to 15 yards. We use flat paper targets at various distances. I have used soda cans hung by a string and I challenge the kids to shoot the strings. They are pretty good at that! Their eyes are better than mine. I have hung 1/4" beads with fishline. One hit and they are done. Next item will be playing cards mounted horizontally. That should be a lot harder! What other ideas out there to keep the kids entertained?

You might also try generic TUMS. They come in different colors and are really cheap at Dollar General and other places. You can get a big bottle for practically nothing in various sizes. They explode beautifully. Will require a good broom when done.
Necco wafers have more per penny in a pack and same effect 🤪🤙

Oh boy🤔draw an image on a paper and trave it with shots. Uhhh...bottle caps on strings are good, rusty old shotgun shells, cheapo action figures or army men, crayons explode good, hmm...anything cheap and plentiful 😄 old candies too

It's too bad that Target Forge shut down. Super cool target holding designs and targets. He had a lot of small paddle spinners that you could nail into a piece of wood for great reaction targets. Permanent or impromptu. I use them to make sure I am sighted in out in the woods. You could try hanging 1/4" link pins from fishing line or put a nail through the hole and pound in to make a spinner. Might need a bead between the link and whatever you are hammering into.

Antacids are great targets, they really turn to dust when you hit them square. My dad and I shoot them at 40 yds. It’s a blast

Toy soldiers are good, but finding them after they take a hit can be a chore. Small dinosaur or animal figurines are fun, too. Tying fishing line to them simplifies recovery.

J~
I am going to hang some soldiers from the floor joists as parachutists and gliders. I will try to set up a battlefield with the rest of the soldiers. I will be using a lot of fish line. It will be set up from 2 - 15 yards to teach the kids how to adapt for elevation. Should be interesting. Thanks all for the feedback.
