RAW REPORT

Hamster was acquired second hand but at best guess the "Mechanics" are a MAC-1, the knee block is custom made from wood with non skid on the bottom.

When gun was ordered had Martin install a rail so when the time came to need it ... had it.

I can't give any exacts because it has a totally different valve with a Cobra mod, super light hammer and an internal SSG devise in play.

But is running IIRC in about 110 bar.

Rifle had been for the 2017 & 2018 FT seasons set up as a Hunter class gun in .20 cal. To make the conversion easily flip between a 20 ft lb .20 and 12 ft lb .177 with minimal fuss engineered & set it up so ONLY the SSG ( Contain spring & stop guide ) required a swap along with barrel/s. When at .20 cal the gun on the 500 cc bottle was in around 200-220 shots and as a 12 ft lb gun likely in excess of 350. * Never tried or had to worry about air use.

Having worked in the R&D of both the SSG & Cobra valve tech & applied both the efficiency is pretty outstanding.

Scott S

Such upgrades are a must now right from the factory, otherwise these RAW guns will be technologically obsolete very soon as very little has been done to make these guns efficient.

There is a section of the barrel that protrudes from the block on all of mine about 1/16" to 3/32". My single shot tray fits snug on all as well.

Photo's may help if you can.

Craig

The first thing that I noticed with the RAW trays, they're round and are a PITA to snug with the end of the breach. Once seated, it doesn't take very much for them to pop out unfortunately. The only thing keeping them in there is light friction..

I cant quite figure out why they're rounded, the width is the same as the magazines - so I assume they're the correct part for my rifle.

The trays are rounded so you can adjust the pitch to best suit the angle you desire when hand loading. So far I have had good luck with both of mine staying put.

John

I figured that out late last night while I was practicing with getting a feel for loading and the trigger stages. Every 3rd or 4th time I reload the single shot tray, it falls out. I might have to wedge something between the tray and the action to keep it from falling out until I can find a 3D printed mag that stays put better. Hand loading doesn't seem to be very ergonomic for me with this setup, and I wouldn't want to damage every other pellet because that just wouldn't be fun! :)

mtnGhost,

After experimenting quite a bit, I felt the single shot tray was no more accurate than the magazine.

However I continue to find that hand feeding the shot one at the time into the barrel exceeds the accuracy of either so that is what I do.

As Mark B told me it only takes a little practice and they become second nature to hand feed and I quickly came to agree.

The single load tray is a bit tricky to install if you do not align it up with the crown on the front of the opening of the bore it will be canted a little and cause pellet skirt deformation. You can feel this when you install it and see it when you look at the tray after you put it in and before you close the bolt /pellet probe.

So if you find your self unable to correct POI sometimes that could be 1. not having the Single load tray in right . 2 Bad magazine, 3 clipping in the sound moderator.

thats just some of what I have experienced. Iam sure there are others that could add to that list.

Note the very bottom of the tray, Mine has no gap like your has. Mine fits snug. the gap at the bottom of yours may be the cause of your problems.

Hmm.. it looks like your gap is different than mine! Yours is under and mine is to the rear. Here's another photo with more light behind it ..

What caliber is that rifle Craig?

As far as pellet deformation, I didn't notice any tipping during the probe insertion. I do plan to shoot a bunch of MKII JSBs, but D-RIG's slugs are what I want to shoot mostly. I've tried hand loading, it's a two handed operation for me - and not without damaging the ammo.

MG,

Mine is a .22 cal. that said my .25 cal and .30 cal are all the same HM1000X model. Snug front to back with no gap like your gun has.

I really feel that your tray is too short in length to properly fill the gap.

Craig

I totally agree with that assessment, but I'm beginning to think this is by design. I also have two magazines for this rifle - one that shipped with it and one that I ordered from RAW before the rifle arrived.

The magazines are only 0.003" wider than the single shot trays. The space between the breech and probe side of the action is much wider. The magazines will fall out on their own if the rifle is moved in the slightest bit while the lever is cocked back.

I wonder if this 60ft-lb version has a wider magazine feed opening in the action than others? I guess I'll be reaching out to some folks tomorrow to see if they're planning on making wider mags and trays. This is pretty fumbly.

Well, despite the hiccups with the accessories - I got a little taste today of what all the rage is with these rifles. The weather here in the PNW today was abysmal - off and on rain from a big storm system that dropped down from the cold north. Wind has been blustery, gusting to 45mph in the mountains around my goto shooting area. I knew that I was going to be down in that area today, so I brought my new 60fpe behemoth with me in case the rain let up.

The rain stopped just long enough for me to setup one short range target and one out to 108y. I brought a rickety folding table with me to shoot off of. I setup the table right behind my Jeep to get out of the direct forces of the wind, and shot 10 or so heavies at the short range target since I didn't have time to bore sight my new scope on this new rifle. Once I had the general direction from the center of the reticle, I realized the sky was looking ominous and aimed at the long range target.

It took a few pellets and one refill to hit paper. I did a quick elevation and windage adjustment and saw my POI much closer to my POA. From there, I just shot until it fell of the reg (5 more shots). With the wind gusting like hell my rickety folding table wobbling in the wind, and without my rear shooting bag (just my bipod), this is what she did..

A glimpse of what was what I was dealing with at the time..

In HM1000X 60 ftlb RAW does not use valve air filter. I just examined mine.

The design without the air filter definitely improves air flow.

Nice! Well, I have some good and bad news, starting with the bad first - while I didn't completely disassemble my regulator this evening, but I took it out to experiment with different pressure settings. I bought a Best Fittings Theoben Rapid Tester specifically to gauge and tune the pressure for this reg, but noticed right away that the reg wasn't threading into the tester!

I contacted Ken Hicks and after some back and forth, confirmed that my regulator threads are from the ones used in the .357, which will not thread. I'm pretty bummed about about this, but I decided to go ahead and adjust the reg to see if I could get the power up some more for 33gr slugs. A little trial and error ensued, went the wrong way the first time 1/4 turn and dropped the power down from the factory 885fps to 816fps (I used 34gr MKIIs for power testing). I then adjusted it so it was 1/4 turn clockwise, and it still lost some speed (866fps).

I reset the lock but to factory (73.74mm end to end) and adjusted it clockwise down to 73.63, and wallah - my rifle is shooting the heavies at 922fps with a fairly decent ES of 6!

Hoping the weather is decent next weekend, this weekend so I can see how the slugs group.

Dear

Here is the RAW regulator in my hand.

And below are FX Royle OEM and HUMa regulators.

Now you can understand that how much more space RAW regulator occupies as compared to Huma. The smaller sized regulator will increase the volume of regulated chamber and HUma is well known for their efficiency.

Bhaur

Sorry that I took you wrong.

Yes the reg threads may be different.

I normally test the reg pressure by removing the bottom blanking screw and screw in a guage there.

In that area the threads are around 1/2" UNF
