RAW question

Finally got to shoot my new RAW HM1000X 30 cal. What are you guys using for pellets/slugs
Is there anything i should know? I'm shooting 47.2 gr. Neilsen slugs and i can't hit the side of a barn! I'm shooting at 35 yards . I was thinking of trying pellets but all i have is slugs right now. I know it's not the scope because i was doing 1 hole groups at 35yds with this scope mounted on my other gun.
What gives?

Hey John,

Our guns are set up for 44.75 JSB's, we've not tested those particular NSA slugs so I can't speak to them from personal experience but where do they size out to? Usually, customers have found that the .30 barrels like head sizes of 7.64 to 7.65 (which in a tin of JSB's that is usually what about 95% of the size out to be). You may need to increase your reg pressure a bit and possibly add some hammer spring adjustment to get those slugs moving fast enough to be accurate, I would recommend adjusting the reg first as the hammer spring adjustment is really more for fine-tuning.

Our .22 and .25 guns will shoot NSA, H&N, and FX slugs right out of the gate and do great but we have not tested the .30's as much as the .30 cal guns use a proprietary barrel that was developed with pellet shooting in mind. The .22 and .25 use polygon rifled LW barrels with no choke so they will run slugs just about like everything else will, but the .30 has really been a pellet shooter since day one.

Obviously the gun was made for pellets and it shoots them very well. I have had good luck out past 200 yds with the NSA 47.2 at 900 fps. Check out Griffin also, he has a great selection. Hopefully in the next couple days I will get some more footage but there is a clip of my RAW shooting the 47.2 at 200 yds in my intro vid. Have shot 1100 prairie dogs on one property with most shots between 150 and 250 the longest being 389 yds with a mixed bag of RAW, Texan SS, Huben, and Taipan Vet. but mostly with the RAW. I am in Colorado and always have wind to deal with so finding the right slug has helped when shooting long range in the wind. I have some Griffin slugs that I will be testing soon and will post a vid.

Good luck

Cameron,

When I got my RAW, the booklet that came with it made no mention of adjusting the reg pressure or indicating where the reg was located. It also made no mention of adjusting the hammer spring. Any adjustments that I was able to make, I picked up by reading posts on this forum. There was no parts list or a detail view of the mechanism. These would have been IMO necessary and essential to the operation. Is there a publication that explains the”how to” in your post? Thanks for your post.

Well Cameron,

I bought some jsb 44.75 gr. pellets and the gus shoots incredible! It is by far the nicest pcp I've ever shot ( and I've had quite a few FXs and Daystates)
