RAW HM1000x - Unscrewable Hammer > Tip Diameter

Hey Motorhead,

Hammer tip no longer un-screwable ...

On the newest version of the HM1000x, the hammer is one piece. To install peek I will need to cut down the tip and drill out hammer about 1/2" to install peek using JB weld. S/b no biggie ... already heated tip to anneal, just need to shave off 3/8" length of 1/4" OD tip and drill/tap hammer body. Peek seems not to like being threaded with a die ... we'll see.

Why not just drill it out and add a threaded collar/sleeve?

Hey Scott since he is modding his hammer do you think it may help to suggest how to do the peek at the hammer head?

If the strike tip does NOT come out as all previous Theoben / RAW hammers did .... Only way is to make a SHOE type fitment.

Being I have NO actual action in front of me, have no clue what clearances there are within the hammer bore ahead of poppet stem for the added diameter a Shoe would include ? Also going to loose some stroke unless strikers length is reduced equaling that of what a PEEK shoe would add.

Hey Guys,

Sorry ... I hadn't checked my post here for a couple of days.

Made a Peek Tip that turns out to be what Scott had suggested. JB Welded a Peek sleeve or boot over a reduced hammer tip.

Well Scott -

Ran another string from 235 bar down to 200 bar and got the following w/JSB 18.13 grain pellets:

- 48 shots

- Ave. velocity 910 fps

- Efficiency = 1.56

- ES = 25

Sure the action was a little quieter, but the big story for me was the tighter ES. You could really tell the lighter pellets from the heavier ones from the tin. At least 36 shots had an ES of 10😁. IMO the ES of this string was almost completely determined by pellet's weight (variance) and not the gun's air regulation systems.

The Peek, Hammer Tip increased the consistency of hammer/valve stem strike.

This is very good news for the RAW👍.

With a little tweaking, the RAW can be made as good as before - and is LIGHTER😊.
