There’s a loc-tite like substance on it to make sure it doesn’t blow off.
As Stotmeister said, a strap wrench is for filters. Usually plastic water/oil filters and won’t scratch it up. A slight bit of heat could help but that means a propane torch moving over it never in one spot or over 300*F. Shouldn’t even need near that. I only go that high if dipping one part in ice water for a stuck tolerance fit.

Is there a practical way to actually moderate the sound of a 30 cal RAW?I have one and it’s pretty loud ( without adding more length to an already long gun )

I chatted with a very friendly forum member recently who wanted his RAW made quiet. After a bit of discussion and some consternation, my conclusion was that there was no easy way. Really, the design wants a complete bespoke shroud system. The existing offset mod design is just a big ugly house of cards composed of bad ideas stacked on top of each other one supporting the next such that you can't just re-core it or anything.

The least-worst fix that is doable at home without fancy tools is probably to pull all the existing crap off completely and get one of those barrel clamping thread adapters that use a couple grub screws to put a threaded end on a bare muzzle. It's ugly and nasty but without a lathe or better I wouldn't know what else to suggest. :(
