RAW Rapid RAW FT pistol vs Micro Hunter

OK, thinking an idea thru asking for opinions. The discussion is about .177 cal and 12ftlbs.
I like both the TM1000 pistol and the Micro hunter. Could you buy 1 and have both?
I'm assuming the internals are the same. Correct me if I'm wrong. If you add a shoulder stock to the pistol format or remove the shoulder stock from the micro Hunter accept for barrel length you have the same platform, yes? If one had a TM1000 barrel laying around you could swap out the 8.5" barrel on the Micro Hunter? yes, no? How much work if any would be required for the swap? So, could either platform do what the other platform does without compromising?

The tm has a different hammer and probe but yes it’s easy to swap and change barrels and stocks, use can use the hammer spring adjuster to alter power to accommodate differ barrel length (longer barrels are more efficient and can produce more power) or better still have a few springs of different lengths. If you are after a gun that can target shoot and hunt then both blocks are equally capable but the HM Block allows the use of a mag while the tm is single shot only.

Or do what I did, best of both

Thinking the real question becomes ( being you have another fitted barrel to use ) is>>>> Do you want a dedicated single shot or an Either/Or Magazine use rig ?

Tho do understand ... as these are sorta special order rigs from RAW, you can get any barrel or bottle combo you want used on other RAW versions ;)
Exactly this^^^^^^
I have several barrels, stocks, regs, springs, bottles and moderators, my raw could be 6fpe a pistol in the morning.
A 12fpe compact barn gun at luchtime, a 50yard target gun in the afternoon and a slug shooting hunting rig with night vision in the evening.
With a little knowledge, a few spares and the right tools, swapping parts really is very very simple.👍

Funny you should bring this subject up. I've been trying to formulate the do-almost-everything RAW .177 cal pistol/rifle. I like the new FT pistol, but it's a TM action which is a single shot loader and you can't add a folding stock. Then, I like the Micro Hunter which uses the HM multi shot action. It only has an 8.5 inch barrel and a 210 cc aluminum (heavy) tank. I used to shoot HFT with a RAW HM1000 and a magazine. I preferred that because I didn't have to fumble with trying to load a single pellet at a time. It worked well and accuracy was not affected. Stupidly, I sold that gun and have been kicking myself ever since. Sooo, I thought maybe I could buy a HM1000x Mini in a chassis with a short barrel. I called RAW and they said that there were no plans to offer an HM1000x in .177 cal. Why not? Just swap barrels and re-tune. I then explored buying a Micro Hunter and installing a 15 inch barrel and a CF tank. Martin would do it, but it's getting to be more problems than it's worth. What to do. Last night, I came up with the idea of buying an HM1000 (no x there) in a chassis in.177 cal. If RAW wouldn't supply a barrel shorter than the offered 24 incher, then cut the barrel down myself. Methinks that combination would satisfy everything I've been trying to do.

If it were me I would definitely try and get the hm1000 block, not the 1000x. The x block is more suited to high power due to the bigger valve and inlet plenum. The 1000 block is shorter, lighter and doesn’t push the buddy bottle out as far resulting in a better balance particularly shooting off hand. the 1000 block is still capable of decent power but that’s not needed in .177 even if you intend to shoot slugs at 1000fps.

Just check out the size comparison between the 1000 and the 1000x

The RAW CHASSIS stocks have a block on the back that takes any of the "AR" thread on butt stocks, buffer tubes or FOLDING STOCKS / Adapters.
So having a Folding TM is not a problem ;)

Being the HM series utilize the "probe in sleeve" miens to chamber & seal breech, the "Sleeve" is CALIBER SPECIFIC if your going to use magazines.
Exception being a Larger caliber sleeve will seal a Smaller caliber barrel and allow single shot use ... You can't go the other way as in a small caliber sleeve sealing a large caliber barrel however :(

Forgot so an edit ...
Using a TM and there tapered wedge breech seal technique, barrel caliber swaps become a non issue in the maintaining a seal at breach when doing so :D

Thanks for that, but I want a repeater and the TM is not for me.

I originally brought this up because I'm trying to be economical at my adult age. I've spent way too much money in the past on this hobby. It's all been fun just not financially sound. I have a 17" LW steel sleeved barrel that is a take off from my TM1000 in it's 12ftlb days. It's a super accurate barrel and I was thinking if I had Martin cut it down to about 12" and swapped it out with the 8.5" barrel of the micro I would have the best of both platforms.
Fun stuff especially since it incorporates my favorite trigger.

P.S. I also agree that the 1000 series would be better than the 1000x series block. The 1000x series block is too big unnecessarily for the power levels we are talking about here.

Just for your information, later Theoben rapid blocks come with the mk4 trigger ( your favourite) and will fit directly into the micro hunter chassis ( sadly and for some strange reason we can’t buy the smaller chassis in the uk only the longer chassis) your tm barrel will fit into a rapid block. You might be able to get a s/h rapid and convert that, which might be an economical option😉
