RAW Rapid RAW .30 @100Y

I spent some time testing today using my RAW .30 HM 1000X LRT @100Y. I was testing JSB 44, FX 44 and AEA 45 pellets with and without lube. I was also testing an Impulse Air moderator. It’s an interesting design that allows you to remove or add sections to increase or decrease the OAL. This in turn increases or decreases the overall report of the rifle but more importantly it changes the weight which in turn changes the barrel harmonics. It made a noticeable affect on the accuracy and each time I removed a section the POI significantly moved. It’s very effective and worthy of testing if you are so inclined? I also tested a Donny FL Sumo, Ronin and Tanto. However, after significant testing my particular HM 1000X LRT had the best accuracy with a Donny FL Tanto.

I shot my last set of targets shooting just one bull at a time, then indexing to the next one, shooting it and so on until I had been around the targets 5 times, ending up with 5 individual shots in each bull. This is more in line with shooting a match, one bull at a time, instead of just staying in one place and shooting groups. Since a card consists of 25 bulls and the targets I shot totaled 30 bulls so I omitted scoring my lowest bull score.

Winds were constant 7-9 and constantly switching. It was a challenging day but I am gradually getting the hang of it. I’m certainly no expert 100Y shooter but merely sharing my experience. It’s in preparation for the upcoming PAC and hopefully I won’t finish dead last?

Thank you Randall.

Thanks Mike. I have tried multiple high $$$ scopes with little success. My eye sight isn't great so I can't lay all the blame on many of the scopes that I have tried. Right now I am still reverting back to my SII 36X Sightron as its been the best for me so far. I have a second Vector Optics Continental 6-48 on the way so that will be my next one to try out. The first one would not focus at 100Y but looked fantastic at 50Y. Hopefully the new replacement will be better?
