rat with doorbell cam + Taipan .25

I was five blocks from home, buying milk and some rib-eye steaks, and the cam sent a notification of activity to my phone. I saw the rat and pressed the video record button. I got into high gear with the brights on and came into the house. Quietly opened the backdoor and waited. While gawking at the camera the rat came into the screen.

I was too excited to actually use one of the coolest features of the cam and did NOT record the kill, doh! I held one dot over and the JSB MkII 34gr hit him in the boiler room and he flopped over into the peanut butter chocolate plate.

Thank You "Ranchibi" at GTA forum.
Here's the cam...

Nice, and well, that will teach the next rat encyclopedia salesman not to come calling to your house. I guess you were pushing around 40 ft/lbs on that rat with the Taipan in 25? My Taipan Compact in .25 pushes up to 49 ft/lbs with the 34 gr JSBs.

That's hilarious. The last guy that came to door won't be back, for sure. It's the Taipan Vet Long

According to my attach to the end of the barrel China chrony: 850fps delivering 50.2 foot lbs at 13 yards

I believe the chrony is off by 40 fps and it's actually: 890fps delivering 54.6 foot lbs at 13 yards

I believe its off by 40 because Talon Tunes sent me a shot string when I bought the gun from him and my numbers are different. Regardless he got smacked down hard.

Yeah Ranchibi it was FUN to be 'in the driver's seat' and KNOWING for sure there was a rat there. I got him!

At daylight this camera gets moved to the bird feeders in the front yard and we spy on the hummingbirds and yellow finch, what fun is that!

I also purchased a $20 wifi enhancer hotspot thingy from Home Depot to boost signal to the camera. Yes, technology is a good thing for ratting at least for me.

There's a little bit of ChinGlish but not too bad.

Heck Yeah!! Nicely done! I have done the same thing to record some raccoons that were raiding my corn overnight. Mine is the Arlo camera system. They start recording once they see movement, so most of the time I can capture the kill automatically.

Hi. Mine does video automatically but I am not sure how long the subject has to stand in front of it for it to trigger. I can push the button to force video to be taken but I was too wound up and forgot.

Oh cool! I’m going to get one of those WiFi enhancers....thank you! It is fun, especially when the wife is enjoying it too bird watching via cam!

Probably has to move a bit. If sitting still may stop the recording. A small critter just eating in place may look as non movement to the camera.
