Actually this is the first kill with a PCP, I turned the speed down to 480-500fps for quiet backyard action between 8-9 this evening. I got a different one with a good hit but it layed still for a second or two then kicked his way back under the fence, I can see the pellet throughout the flight with the NS50 and speeds this low haha.

But this second one John McLean here from Diehard. I hit him square between the eyes and ear and he flopped a bit, so I kept scanning around and I see it's breathing still so I give it another one in the head/neck area then give it a minute then STILL breathing so another in the lungs and he was done. Even a rat I don't really want to see suffer. But upon inspection the first shot went through his head and out the far eye. This is after rolling it over and straightening it out.

It's not that long but its FAT.

Nice Rat.... good shot.....it's been slow around here, I got one last week and a couple mice this weekend, I use 2 guns set up with my DYI NV , I use the .22 Mrod mostly, it's shooting around 850 fps, and it's nice and quiet, I also use my .20 cal HW100, it's shooting around 950 fps, it's a little louder but it's so accurate..... got his mouse with the Mrod the other night.

Thanks gents,
Well after a few minutes of searching I found the first one I hit, right in the face. The other side is pretty gross looks like maybe other rats were nibbling his lips/jaw. He only made it a few feet away but under this wooden thing and I usually wait till morning to have a good look.

This thing looks rough!

Went to the range for an hour or so and shot a bit, nice group at 50m/5 shots.

Also got to shoot a Robinson Armament XCR, very cool not as accurate as my air rifle but not bad. Joking, it's a beautiful rifle and I'd love one. I'll keep this thread updated with casualties as I think I have rat fever again.

Oh man, tonight I sat out for about an hour and as I was putting my chair and tripod out I just kind of looked out in the darkness towards where I usually shoot and sure enough a rat goes running along this retaining wall we have back there. Looks promising! I wasn't out for long and I'm scanning with the NS then I spot the biggest rat I've seen while using it, HUGE body it wasn't like possum big but huge for a rat. I'm tracking it then he pops up behind that wooden thing they love and runs right in the line of fire basically, looking right in my direction with the night vision light lighting him up and he has no clue I'm there.

I'm waiting for the perfect shot and basically have the first stage of the trigger pulled up then suddenly I guess I shot, sigh. The pellet I see catch him kind of broadside but at a terrible angle and I'm sure it bounced off him. Sounded like a hitting a drum. I looked around there and saw no blood but haven't found the pellet yet, so disappointed in myself haha. Sat out for like 45 minutes after that and saw nothing. :(

WOW that one in the back is fat Monkyshine, yeah it is a blast I love it. I had to wait an hour and watched one that wasn't in a good place to shoot then I guess he made his way around to the PB station. He got a lick then jumped in the rhubarbs (rats just love the cover they think they offer. Then about 30 seconds later I saw his eyes looking out from under a leaf whammmo.

Monkyshine I bet you would be leading both so far with that fatty in the back, nice work.

I haven't shot any recently but I got this fat bastard a week and a half ago. Smart fella. I shot 3 of his buddies throughout that week. I wish that I used a tape measure when I took the pic. The can next to him is a little over 3.5 inches so I'm guessing the length of his body without the tail is about 7-8 inches. The white rope you see on his foot is a noose I used to drag him out from under a fence after I shot him. Airgun used was my Brocock Contour S6 Elite using .22 Predator Polymags at about 19-20 FPE. I wish that I have a NV setup but I'm currently using my Surefire X300 Ultra pistol light. I have to be quick when I spot them because they only give me that limited window to shoot once I hit the light. Still more to come.

Here's another one, although smaller, that I shot 2 weeks ago.

Great job Peskadot671,

Yeah the can is a good gauge of fatness I'll say 3 inches fat and put you on the leaderboard in that category. Beautiful gun and keep them coming!

Try and bring a measuring tape with you next time so it can be a little more accurate (I know you didn't know this was happening)
