Rats are very hard to terminate without using traps. It takes too much time and effort for each rat. This one triggered the alarm more than 5 times over the course of 3 hours. The motion webcam often misses the rat because it is in and out of view before the video capture starts.
Rats don't stay still for very long so you have to be quick. Quick isn't conducive to being precise. At my current skill level, if I took my time my aim is good for about 1", but I didn't have that the time with rats. That's why I passed on the 1st opportunity for a head shot. I probably would have missed and it would have been scared off. So I had to be patient and wait for a better body shot where aim isn't so important. Still the shot was far from ideal. Luckily I used a 60 fpe .25 instead of my 12 fpe .177 so the rat still died quickly.
Rats like the bong too!
