Sorry no pics. I almost didn't count this one as it was obviously dying from the Bromethalin bait I have been putting out...
Actually, I did the rat a favor and ended its misery. Poison is a miserable death for these rodents, but I am pleased that it is working!
However, it is the first pesting shot I have had in nearly/about/over 2 weeks! I haven't even seen a chipper in 2 weeks, let alone have a safe shot at one.
So, I am wondering if I will surpass my numbers from last year? Of course, last year almost ALL of my ~75 chipmunk kills came at the end of summer/beginning of fall when they were trying to hoard up a stock for their torpor before it got cold. AND, nearly all of those were at ~45 yards when I could still shoot across the neighbor's property (with permission) before the new neighbors (good folks) moved in and put up a privacy fence blocking all of those shots and also most the 60 yard shots I used to be able to take.
Maybe that will happen again this year, but right now... I am thinking about putting out my target box (I really don't like shooting paper except to zero)... just to keep sharp! LOL!
Maybe my early efforts this year (47 chippers so far) have made that big of a difference? Time will tell... (chuckle)
