Is this rare? Never saw a crosman with a co2 on the barrel

What's rare is finding one with the CO2 cover still intact. Just guessing, that's looks like an early 70's SA6 or Peacemaker 44 in .22 you have there. 

This one is a later 70's Peacemaker in .177 has a plastic cylinder as opposed to the metal cylinder the early 70's models came with, this one has the CO2 cover still on it. They're a lot of fun, I pick them up here and there when someone's practically giving one away and it's in good shape, with a box is a big plus.

I had one for a while as a kid-couldn't hit anything with it. As my skills developed I tore it down and found that the barrel had a blank stripe where there should have been a groove!

 Mine came with this original co2 but it was metal with a dark gray plastic cover of some sort. Why did they rap it with this and is it the original 1970s co2 because I never see co2s like this?
