rangefinder, why not a Golf one?

Is there a technical reason why a "Golf"* rangefinder would not do the job of a Hunting rangefinder.



* I have seen "golf" versions offered for less $£$£$.

PS, anyone bought a lower cost Rangefinder and been happy with it.

I've been using a Nikon/Callaway IQ model for the last 7 years and haven't had any issues with it.

I use an old golf rangefinder from my old man and it never failed me even once. Yes when in fog it has trouble but so do other 600 tactical hunting ones.

I'm just guessing, but I think the range is more limited on golf range finders and they may or may not have a slope/incline/angle function, but for most airgun distances using pellets they will do just fine for most people. Heck, I am not even sure that a higher dollar range finder will be better at pellet distances! JMHO - YMMV

I use a Bushnell golf range finder because I can use it with two hands. My hand shakes when I push the button with one hand. Plus the 9volt battery last a long time.

If all you are using the rangefinder for is measuring distances, then use whatever you have available. They are all the same in that regard.

golf vs rifle vs bow rangefinders really only differ in the software features in each rangefinder. They measure distance the same.

Some of the golf models can be harder to use in woods and such because they have a "lock on" feature that can grab branches and such that you are not trying to target, but are in your path. Other than that, cannot see a real issue and I have both types.

Not all rangefinders are created equal. While they may read in 0.1 yd increments they have accuracies ranging from +/- 0.5 yd to +/- 2.0 yd. I have a Nikon Laser 30 that is accurate to +/- 0.5 yd. I use it for practicing my HFT ranging skills at home

golf vs rifle vs bow rangefinders really only differ in the software features in each rangefinder. They measure distance the same.

Some are different in that the picture may be sharper and clearer due to adjustable eyepiece and better glass with higher mag. Also, more golf ones seem to offer angle compensation. 

Some also offer first or second object selection, which can help distinguish brush from target, or select one object ahead of or behind the other.
