Just getting setup with my first PCP and starting to think about accessarys, which range finder are you guys using and which ones should I stay away from? Don't wanna spend more than $200 if possible. Thanks in advance for any help
I've got an inexpensive Simmons and I've got no complaints. You could spend a lot more for lots of bells and whistles. But for simple range finding, why spend a lot of money?
Halo 450xl, 80.00 Amazon and 99.00 Walmart. Has built in tilt meter to adjust for steep angle shots (uphill or downhill). About 250 yards detection range for fur, just over 300 for ground detection.
With a handle like "Winc308" I'd assume that good ranging at longer distance might be useful. But certainly for air gun use only any of those mentioned should be fine.
I just got one of these and it works quite well so far. Not many fancy options, push the button get a reading. 1st is shows strait line distance, angle in degrees, in a few seconds it shows strait line distance and horizontal distance (replacing the angle).
It has another mode for scanning and locking, I haven't tried it yet. Don't know how well it works will tall grass in front of what you want to range or in he fog or rain as other high end range finders claim to do a better job at. I also have a very old Bushnell Compact 800. It worked fine but lacked angle and diopter focus. It was always blurry to look through. This new one has a focus, so it also becomes useful as a 6x monocular.
